PORT ADELAIDE will throw open the gates of Alberton for the next two match weekends to allow its AFL game-access members free entry to the final two games of the SANFL season.

With the Power playing interstate for the next two match weekends, it will be the Magpies flying the Port Adelaide flag on the home front at its spiritual home, Alberton Oval.

Every member of the club with AFL game access will simply need to show their membership card at either the Russell Ebert (Queen Street) or Bob McLean (Brougham Place) gates when Port plays South and West.

It’s a one-off opportunity to get the club’s supporters back to Alberton to see the club play in two crucial games in the SANFL.

The Magpies sit second on the ladder and have qualified for finals, but need to win both of its games against the Panthers and Bloods to guarantee a double chance in the first week of finals.

Port Adelaide’s head of membership Matthew Richardson says the decision to make entry free for the club’s AFL game day members is about giving the chance to be part of an authentic Port Adelaide experience while the Power plays away.

“There’s nothing more Port Adelaide than watching the Magpies play a game of football at Alberton Oval,” Richardson says.

“And there’s something special about being at Alberton Oval, cheering on the Magpies as our fans have done for generations.

"You’re so close to the action, it’s great for families with the kids getting to run on ground during the breaks, as much as it's a great day out for a few mates on the outer.

“We’ve had good support this year, but we’d love to have as many club members as we can at Alberton this Saturday against South and next Sunday when we play the Bloods to show their support and get the boys over the line.”
