OK, here we are, Round 2 results. Very interesting voting. It's unusual to have such a clear top few when the team overall played so well, but the sheer dominance of the midfield showed through in the voting with the top 4 dominating the voting and all being key midfielders including, of course, the very in form Nat Fyfe. Here's the breakdown:

Round 3 voting has been counted and the RG medal confirmed what we were all thinking, Neale was BOG. Interesting enough that's 3 different BOG's for each game - that's a good sign I guess given how consistent we've been with certain players (e.g. Hill, DPearce, Fyfe). Here is the breakdown:

Rnd 3 vs West Coast

Round 4 and Nat returns to the top of the voting and becomes the first multiple BOG of the season, and with it starts to pull out a lead which in all likelihood will grow. Well done to McPharlin and Ibbotson who broke into the top end of the voting for the first time this season and special mention to Clancee who also polled well. The overall numbers came out as such:

Mayne gave him a run for his money, but there was no denying Fyfe being our BOG once again. What a season he's having. Mundy was up in the charts once again. Interesting spread of votes over a particular group of '2nd tier' players who picked up a very even spread of votes. Well done to all of them.

Lots of players picking up lots of votes which I generally think is a good thing to see. Fyfe is up there as per usual, but BOG this week is Lachie who is proving he's no flash in the pan. This guy is getting it done big time. Well done to all the boys, they're playing well.

Johnson gave Fyfe a run for his money and it was pretty close, but he couldn't quite pip Fyfe who, by our voting, picked up another BOG. Pavlich is obviously in good form too and rounds out our top 3, making it back to back top 3 vote getter for the champ. Here's the breakdown:

Sandi was right up there and polled the strongest he has all season. Suban and Barlow proved once again that they are strong players in wet conditions with both also having their strongest games of the year in terms of vote getting. Oh yeah, and Fyfe is ... well you all know where Fyfe is at.

Something different this week with the BF Freo fans having to deal with a loss, but some things seem to never change and it's Fyfe who again is declared our BOG. Sandi was considered quite highly with his influence particularly later in the game drawing votes and Balla's drive and effort was also rewarded rounding out our top 3. Here are the numbers:

This is how the numbers in the voting fell this week. As you can see, Fyfe finished up the first half of the season where he's been for most of it, and for the 3rd straight week our votes put him and Sandi 1 and 2 respectively. For all sorts of reasons, it were backmen who dominated the voting after that with Ibbo, McPharlin, Sutty and A.Pearce rounding out the top vote getters.

1st Fyfe - 2395 votes
2nd Neale - 962 votes

This one could go down to the wire folks...

When thinking of a name for our voting I thought of calling it "Best of the Rest: The Race for Second"

Or maybe we can change the rules; for Fyfe to win our best player award, he has to get more votes than the next three after him combined. That would put it pretty tight at this stage, by my maths.

My buddy'll still win :p

Fyfe aside (as usual), the voting was quite tight this week with posters splitting their votes over a number of players who all performed well. Notably Ibbo who was our '2nd BOG' polled the highest he has all year and Hill was up in the top echelon again after being out of the vote getting field for a number of weeks. Well done to them. Walters, Neale and Sandi continued recent form also polling votes albeit a bit lower down. Here's how it all washed up:

Neale is ahead of some pretty decent competition to be in second. What a find he has been.

He's the only other player besides Fyfe to have managed BOG by our votes this year, so that helps his standing so to speak. His dedication is there for all to see, super attitude, super little player, great stuff.

Should be acknowledged that I reckon he's flying in large part because Fyfe and Mundy are having good years and are pretty much in their prime. It just allows him to fulfil his role which he does so well. Without those types in the midfield, he'd not have the support for him to shine so well IMHO. But no denying he's coming on well.

Mundy has dropped off a bit though whereas Neale is still trucking along well

Mundy has dropped off a bit though whereas Neale is still trucking along well

Mundy isn't quite as strong as last year (both in votes and my opinion), but he's still doing well. I think he's doing better than people notice, plus recent week's conditions probably don't bring out Mundy's assets quite so well. In any case, Mundy does drift in and out a touch, but there would rarely be a game where he doesn't influence the play significantly for some periods, and his sheer presence no doubt (In my mind at least) helps Neale do his thing.

The obvious change in the voting this week is the absence of Fyfe from the very top of the leader board. Can't keep him out completely though as he still did pick up a good number of votes, but it was Walters who continued his good form topping the voting, Mundy was also highly regarded and those two were pretty clear out on top. Fairly even after that, with Spurr rounding out the top 3. Here are the numbers:

A game Dockers fans would like to forget had some interesting votes coming out of it. A.Pearce continued to impress in his debut year and in a losing team topped our votes. Hill also caught our collective eyes. Those two were the only consistent vote getters. Not unusual for a loss, the sample size is small and the numbers tend to spread out and so it was a bit all over the place after that. Anyway, here's the wash-up:

Back in the winners circle, where Freo rightly belongs ... but there was still something a bit out of whack; for the first time this season, Nat Fyfe did not pick up a single vote. But there were other regular vote getters heading the table this week with Hill's good form continuing and Mundy, who has been a touch up and down, finishing a close second to be our two stand-outs for the week. Mayne's return to form was noted and he was a clear 3rd.
