Dockers take round 16 win, but only just
Fremantle have won their round 16 clash against the Demons at Paterson Stadium, but not without a scare from the Demons winning 16.11.(107) to 16.6.(102). In front of 36,484 at Paterson Stadium the Dockers kicked 9 goals in the last quarter to storm home and win by 5 points. It was such a dominant display from the Demons in the first 3 quarters, but capitulated in the last term to only score 2.2 while the Dockers piled on 9.3.

Melbourne came out firing in the first quarter with a high scoring affair from both sides adding 7.1 which continued on to a 4 goal lead at half time. At the time we expected a upset with the Demons then taking their lead out to 38 points heading into the last quarter.
But 9 goals in the last quarter which included 2 from captain Matthew Pavlich, Tyson Mzungu and Matt DeBoer added 2 themselves. Fremantle had 10 individual goal scorers throughout the match not relying on too few in previous years, with Kepler Bradley kicking 2.5 while Luke McPharlin snuck forward and kicked a surprising goal.

Mitch Clark continued his good form in Western Australia with a 5 goal performance against the Eagles in round 10, finished the afternoon against the Dockers with 14 possessions and kicked 4.1. His partner in crime Chris Dawes was also solid but not at his dominant best with a 10 possession game and kicked 3 goals.
Jack Grimes came back from injury and contributed with a 23 possession game, laying 4 tackles and kicked 2 goals in what was a captain's display in the absense of Jack Trengove. Colin Sylvia continued his great form for the year with 33 possessions, while again some of the Demons youngsters were impressing with Josh Tynan picking up 16 touches and kicking a goal, while after his best performance last week, Rory Taggert had a quieter day with 15 possessions and 5 clearances. Jimmy Toumpas continues to impress after being selected with the number 4 pick in last years draft, picking up 15 possessions and kicking a goal playing across half back.

The ruck battle had been touted as a great battle and we saw 2 of the best ruckmans in the game going head to head. It was a great battle against the two giants in Aaron Sandilands and Mark Jamar, with Jamar getting the best of the hitouts marginly with a 22 to 21 advantage over Sandi. Jamar finished with 13 possessions while Sandilands was more handy around the ground with 22 possessions and had 3 clearances himself. Mitch Clark and Kepler Bradley supported to the big men with Clark having a bigger influence with 14 possessions, 6 tackles and 4.1 while Kepler finished with 13 possessions and 2.5

The win sees the Dockers now in 9th position and fighting for that top 8 position while the Demons come so far, but yet loosing by 5 points after leading by 38 points heading into the 4th quarter. Melbourne should have won that match and would be ruing the chance to have their 3rd win for the season but will shape up against the Suns next weekend with super confidence pushing one of the top 8 sides right to the final siren.

Match Preview: Round 18 - Gold Coast vs Melbourne
We are headed to Carrara Stadium on the Gold Coast for this round 18 clash between the Suns and the Melbourne Demons. Last time these two sides met was back in round 1 of the AFL season at the MCG with the Suns coming away that day winning by 8 points.
17 weeks has past, and now we set up for what shapes up to be a great contest from these two sides.

In the previous encounter between these two sides it was Charlie Dixon who was the difference between the two sides, with the young forward kicking a career best 6 goals to help his side for a round 1 victory, but the Melbourne defence will be looking to stop his marking and spread this time around after having a better understanding off the way the Suns play their football.

Both sides have made changes to the lineups for this week, with co-captain Jack Trengove and experienced defender Lynden Dunn coming into the side for the Demons who loose Colin Sylvia who injured his ankle at training on Friday with a minor sprain, also Joel Macdonald has been omitted from the side. While the Suns will be without youngster Jake Hutchins but have brought back an ex-Demon in Matthew Warnock to play against his old side.

This battle is shaping up to be a tight contest, and both sides will be looking to add another win to yet a dissapointing season for both these young teams.

The Sun has set on the Melbourne
MELBOURNE has sqaured the ledger in 2013 against the Gold Coast with a Round 18 win at Carrara Stadium in front of 21,397 fans. The win sees the Demon take their 3rd victory of the year and more importantly, sqauring the ledger between the two sides after the Suns knocked off the Demons by 8 points at the MCG earlier in the year in Round 1.

Just like the earlier match between the two sides, we saw a entertaining contest between two sides who have 2 of the youngest teams in the competiton going by age, and just like in Round 1, this match was determined by a single digit margin. A high scoring, entertaining contest certainly gave all supporters the enjoyment they wanted, and for a Suns home game, 21 thousand is a fantastic result for both these sides.
12 goals were kicked in the opening quarter, 6 from each side and to the crowds shock, the skill level from both sides were exellent. Melbourne kicked away after half time though adding another 4.1 to their total while the Suns were ruining their chances in front of goal adding 2.5 to their total.

Melbourne had kicked brilliantly in front of goal right up to the third quarter, but maybe it was pressure of in-experience, but when the game was in the balance they just couldn't score. In a desperate attempt, the Suns added 2 goals in the last quarter which saw contest after contest, after having the majority of the game as a free flowing type of football. Melbourne added 1.5 to their tally and was able to hold on to a 9 point victory.

The Suns had been well served by their big forwards again with Charlie Dixon who was the hero in round 1 kicking 6 goals, was able to manage 4 goals this time around and continuing his good form against the Demons while Sam Day was able to get on the end of a couple and kicked 5.2
Young Melbourne midfielder Rory Taggert is starting to make claims about cemeting his position in the 22 with a 3 goal performance playing across half forward, his best return for the season as well as picking up 26 possessions and 7 inside 50's. The Demons tall timber Chris Dawes (2.3 and 17 possessions) and Mitch Clark (2.1 and 9 possessions) added plenty to the Demons scoring attack.

Gary Ablett had a sensational game for the Suns as he does week in week out with another 34 possession game, and putting the ball inside 50 on 11 occassions, but he was topped by Suns midfielder and team mate David Swallow who finished with 35 possession, 1 goal and 5 clearances next to his name.
Melbourne were bostered with the game from tagger/midfielder Jordan McKenzie who topped the Demons possessions with 33 with 12 of those being contested. Nathan Jones and David Rodan continued to lead the way for the midfielders as mentioned Rory Taggert and Rohan Baill who picked up 30 touches, 4 clearances played a major part in the win.

Mark Jamar was dominant in the ruck against 2 very inexperienced kids in Smith and Gorringe, dominating with 35 hitouts and picking up 17 possessions to his name and after the weekend is sitting in 2nd position on the Hitouts stats in the competition behind Eagles superstar Dean Cox.
The win now takes the Demons to 3-14 for the year after 18 rounds and with a hard month of footy coming up for the club. In the next 4 games the Demons will come up against Adelaide in Melbourne next weekend, then they take on the Pies, Bombers and the Tigers all in which they'll start as under dogs no doubt.
But take nothing away from this young Demons side, they played a great game this afternoon against the Suns who had their measure in the last encounter, it would of felt good to have leveled the ledger just a little bit.

Match Preview: Round 19 - Melbourne vs Adelaide
Round 19 has come quickly in the 2013 season and we have for you Melbourne taking on the Adelaide Crows at the Melbourne Cricket ground on Saturday afternoon. Adelaide will come into this match incredible favourites and it's going to be really hard seeing the Demons causing them too much trouble for the day.
Last time these two sides met Adelaide won by 64 points at Aami Stadium. Lewis Johnston kicked 6 goals, Josh Jenkins and Taylor Walker kicked 3 each, while Patrick Dangerfield starred in the win earlier in the season.

This time the Crows head to Melbourne to hopefully re-act what happened at Aami earlier in the year, however 17 weeks later and we have seen a different Melbourne side so they'll come in with plenty of confidence against a side who has been in the top 2 all season.
The Demons defense will have to watch Johnston, Jenkins and Walker again as all 3 players have been selected, hoever Jenkins will play as a ruckman with Sam Jacobs missing from the side after he was suspended after last weeekend.

The Demons have made no change to the side that won against the Gold Coast Suns last weekend, and have used Lynden Dunn as their sub, giving their young players, Taggert, Bail and Tynan starting positions on the interchange.

Crows make it 2 from 2 against Melbourne in 2013
The Adelaide Crows have made it 2 wins from 2 matches against the Demons in 2013, however the second contest wasn't as cruisey at the first match at Aami Stadium earlier in the year. After a 64 point thrashing in the first game at Aami in Round 2 of the season, Melbourne have come a long way off, with loosing by only 28 points at the MCG on Saturday afternoon against one of the flag fancies in Adelaide.

It was the Crows big men who dominated the match in the earlier contest, and again today it was the Crows bigger men who had a big influence. Angus Graham who had been on the outer with the Tigers at the end of 2012, was recruited to the Crows with the loss of Kurt Tippett up forward and Graham came into the side after ruckman Sam Jacobs was suspended last weekend. Josh Jenkins had started in the ruck for the Crows, while Graham was playing that forward/second ruck role. It was the best return from the big man, who only had the 7 possessions but was able to kick 6 goals for the away team. Adelaide forwards Taylor Walker and Lewis Johnston contributed with 6 goals between them, and that's the difference between the two sides.

The game started off with extreme intensity with the Demon players throwing everything they had within the first 10 minutes of the first quarter crashing and bashing themselves into contested situations and really taking the Adelaide players by surprise. The longer the quarter got however the more the experience shone from the Crows and they led by 15 points heading into the first break.
The second quarter was much better for the Demons who allowed the Crows to kick 1 goal for the term, and added 3.1 themselves in what was a good defensive effort from the young Demons back 6.

35,750 fans showed up on Saturday afternoon to see a much more competitive Melbourne side in which they saw in their round 2 clash at Aami Stadium, and despite the lack of wins throughout the year, fans and members of the team can see the improvement in the side under new coach Hayden Sumner. Their tall timber Chris Dawes who continues to impress in different circumstances he was used to in last year, saw himself kick another 4 goals for the year, and with his counter part Mitch Clark who kicked 3 from 9 possessions and 19 hitouts.

The Crows just had way too much experience in the midfield for the Demons with the likes of Brent Reilly (37 possessions) Patrick Dangerfield (35 possessions) and Rory Sloane (33 possession) all ran rampet against a helpless Demons midfield. David Rodan tried hard for the Demons, and is continuing his good form for his 3rd club with 30 possessions, 5 tackles and 7 inside 50's. Demons defender Colin Garland continues his good form for the year as well with a 22 possession game and laying 6 tackles being named one of the Demons best, while their midfielders apart from Rodan had low numbers. Nathan Jones (21), Rory Taggert (20) and Jack Grimes (16) had very quiet afternoons but tried hard.

The Melbourne coach Hayden Sumner gave this contest a little more spice when he came out earlier in the year and declaired that a player like Patrick Dangerfield would be enourmous for the Melbourne footy club. He said you could build a franchise around Dangerfield and he would be where you'd start. Adelaide coach Brenton Sanderson hit back no less the 24 hours last and mentioned that Dangerfield was "off limits" when it came to trade week later in the year.
Dangerfield answered those critics this afternoon and gave the Demons a close look at what he is capable off with a 35 possession, 4 tackles, 4 clearances and 8 inside 50's his numbers for the day.

Match Preview: Round 20 - Collingwood vs Melbourne @ MCG
These two sides over the journey have created one of the biggest rivalries in the AFL today. Two of the oldest clubs in the competition Melbourne and Collingwood will face off for their Round 20 clash at the MCG on Saturday afternoon. This is the second encounter between these two sides in 2013, with a game in round 3 in which the Pies came away with the victory by 16 points.

Only 42,283 rocked up to the G in round 3 with the home game being held to Melbourne on that day, but this weekend is a Collingwood home game and a bigger crowd of at least 50+ thousand is expected to come.
On that day, Collingwood gun midfielder Dane Swan picked up 35 possessions, 6 clearances and 8 inside 50's, but a sigh of relief from the Demon camp, with Swan missing from the side today after doing his ACL just 2 rounds after his blistering display against the Demons in round 3. Quinten Lynch was on the end of a big bag of 6 goals, while at the time 3rd gamer Jackson Paine kicked 4 goals himself.

Jeremy Howe really stamped his authority for the Demons that day with a 4 goal haul along with Chris Dawes who kicked 3 and fellow tall James Sellar kicked 2. Jack Grimes and Colin Sylvia had the better of the ball for the Demons both picking up 30 possessions while youngster Sam Blease who will be missing for the Demons through injury was very good with 26 possessions.

Only the one change for either side this weekend with Colin Sylvia back from his ankle injury and slots back into the Melbourne midfield, with Josh Tynan the man to make way.
Collingwood and Alan Didak will be celebrating the micurial small forward's 200th AFL game this weekend, 200 games of excitment and amazing goals. In his 200 games Didak has kicked 280 goals and the 28 year old will be looking to cement himself in the Collingwood's side as they mark apon another finals campaign.

Pies, Demons play one of the matches of the year
64,418 fans turned up to the MCG tonight and they have just witnessed one of the games of the season, as the Magpies and Demons play a thriller at the MCG. Collingwood take the chocolates winning 16.12.(108) to 17.5.(107)
In what many were expecting an easy victory tonight for the Magpies, turned into a heart stopper as the young Demons side came from 22 points down middway through the last quarter to nearly snatch victory.

Scores had been level with just 90 seconds to go, with the ball in the Demons forward 50 and pressing for a forward attack to win them the game. A crucial forward 50 ruck win to Darren Jolly knocked it down to Luke Ball who scrambled a grubbing kick away from the 50 and into the middle of the ground where Steele Sidebottom and Daniel Nicholson had a one on one to win, with the Collingwood youngster keeping his feet and winning the contested ball to kick to a leading Cloke who heads out in front of Lynden Dunn. Cloke lined up his shot with the time ticking down to below 20 seconds but misses his shot away to the right and scores a behind with the point that won them the game. Jack Grimes had the kick in from full back and kicked the ball as long as he could, but the Pies did well to keep it to ground and time ran out for the Demons loosing by 1 point.

The Pies led for the whole match, kicking away to a 14 point lead at quarter time, which turned into a 16 point lead heading into the main change. To the Demons credit, they never gave Collingwood more then a 20 point lead, until middway through the last quarter which reassured their come back.
A huge crowd just witnessed one of the games of the year and credit to both teams for putting up a display like that in such tense moments in the game.
Steele Sidebottom who won the crucial contest in the middle of the ground was one of the Pies best, if not the best on the ground with 31 possessions and laying 3 tackles, but nothing as important as that possession through the middle in the last 30 seconds. Scott Pendlebury led from the front with 30 possessions next to his name, while ex Hawk Clinton Young found some form on the wing with 27 touches and 4 clearances.

Travis Cloke was a hand full up forward for the Demons with the Collingwood star kicking 4.3 including the winning point from his 13 possessions and 6 contested marks. Quinten Lynch played a handy cameo up forward with 10 possessions, 13 hitouts and 2.2 for the game to provide more then handy.
Chris Dawes played against his old mates with a 3 goal performance from 10 possessions and is thriving on being the Demons main man up forward, and with his team mate Mitch Clark who finished with 3.3 himself could of won the game missing a crucial shot just with 2 minutes remaining. Jack Grimes was back to his best for the Demons with 24 possessions, 6 clearances and kicking 2 goals and really dug deep to guide his team over the line. Jeremy Howe found some form on the MCG tonight as well, with 19 possessions and kicking 2 goals after starting the match on the bench.

Mark Jamar played a huge match for the Demons and tried his guts out to get his team the win, with a massive effort of 19 possessions, 22 hitouts, 4 tackles, 1.1 for the evening.
Such a big history between these two sides and you can tell in just they way that both teams played tonight that there is extra emotion in games like this against these two sides. Doesn't matter of the ladder positioning throughout the year, these two sides generally put on a great contest and it was no exception tonight.

Melbourne had the chance to knock off a top 4 fancy this year, and got so close but yet so far to knock off their counter part in Collingwood. What was even more impressive was the crowd tonight with 64 thousand rocking up to the MCG to see what was looking to be a thrashing from the Pies, a top 4 side against one of the bottom teams, but as i mentioned, doesn't matter the ladder position, these two sides always come out and play thrillers and thats what the crowd tonight saw.

Match Preview: Essendon vs Melbourne @ MCG
Essendon and Melbourne kick off round 21 on Friday night at the MCG and the Bombers who are cruising at the top of the ladder, will be looking to keep a developing Demons at bay tonight in their 2nd clash of the season.
Essendon took the chocolates in the first game in round 4, winning by 30 points but the season has changed and both sides are different sides compared to 17 weeks ago.

Jason Winderlich and Joe Daniher got away from the Demons defense in the first game, with 11 goals between them, and the Demons defenders will be looking to stop that from happening again tomorrow night. Chris Dawes was fantastic against the Bombers in round 4, kicking 5 goals, and defenders in Colin Garland and Joel Macdonald snuck forward and kicked 2 goals each.

A big crowd is expected for this one heading into the finals series, as the Bombers are looking to get players into form, while the Demons are clearly playing for bragging rights only, should be an interesting contest and see what the Demons can do against another flag fancy.

Pain continues for the struggling Demons
The short term pain has continued for the Melbourne Demons with their 17th loss of the Home and Away season going down to the Bombers by 34 points in front of 32,610 at the MCG on Friday night.
The loss comes on the back of a very low crowd for a Friday fixture with it being a Melbourne home game against the Bombers, and the fans have spoken not turning up to the struggling clubs home games, and the fans that had turned up, turned against the side once the final siren went.

Melbourne senior coach Hayden Sumner said after the loss, "I expected such a response from the crowd, i mean no one is happy with the way we are playing, and things throughout the football club need to change".
Melbourne who have "improved" in patches compared to previous seasons are struggling finacially and on field, but the board remain confident Hayden Sumner and Peter Jackson are the right men to move this team forward.

The players have been more competitive in most matches this year, and when you have a look at the results compared to previous years, the Demons are averaging better matches, but still haven't been able to string consistant wins on the trott. Melbourne have won 3 matches this season under their new coach, the same amount of wins the club had under Mark Neeld last year.

The more experienced Bombers players really shone against the Dees. Jobe Watson was instrumental in the win, amassing 41 possessions, laying 7 tackles and having 7 clearances in what was a dominant captains performance. He was joined by midfielder pair Heath Hocking with 37 possessions and Brendon Goddard who is looking more and more comfortable at his new home with 31 possessions and 9 tackles from half back.
But the damage was done in the forward half with the Bombers tall stock causing havic in the forward line. Michael Hurley finished with 6 goals his best return for the year, while first year player Joe Daniher continued his impressive debut season bagging 5 goals answering the Bombers call for a superstar forward after the departure of Matty Lloyd.

For the Demons, Aaron Davey turned back to the clock and was back to his best. His pressure and tackling were on display, with 9 tackles a game high, while he picked up 19 possessions and kicked 4 goals as the 28 year old looks to keep his position in the side and on the Demons list. It was Davey's best effort in 2013, and maybe that is the match to get the 159 game veteran back to his brilliant best.
Chris Dawes and Mitch Clark continued to hit the scoreboard. Both finished with 2 goals and taking their tally to 92 goals for the year between them with (55 for Dawes) and (42 for Clark).

David Rodan was again the best for the Demons picking up 33 possessions, while defender Colin Garland is continuing to impress with a 24 possession display from the back half. Garland is providing to be a handy backmen for the Demons, taking the ball out of the defensive 50 on 8 occasions this evening, getting plenty of the ball and finding himself as that quarter back type. Garland signed a new deal for the Demons earlier in the year and is ralashing in a new role for the club.

The loss now sees the club just 1 win ahead of last place with the Power a game less, and almosts gurantess the Demons a top 3 pick in the National Draft at the end of the year. It's going to be interesting to see what the club does with that pick they get, if they will use it to top up their young talent, or trade away that pick to a club who is willing to give up a seasoned experienced player.

Match Preview: Round 22 - Richmond vs Melbourne
We come to you from Etihad Stadium for this round 22 clash between the Richmond Tigers and the Melbourne Demons. The Tigers who are positiing themselves for a top 8 finish to the year and playing finals for the first time in a very long time, come into this match as favourites, while the Demons will just be playing out the rest of the season wishing it'd come closer.

The Demons have been competitive in 90% of their matches this year, and to be honest they have had some close games which could of gone either way, and maybe then they wouldn't be in such a dark place if they had of won those close games.
Those games mentioned where loss: 8 points vs Gold Coast in Round 1, Loss: 5 points vs Fremantle in Round 17, Loss: 1 point vs Collingwood in Round 20 and if those close games became wins, the Demons would be looking at a 6 win year and maybe some of the pressure would be off.

The Demons have the chance to stake a claim here against one of the top sides in the competition who will be using this game as a training run for the finals and getting players into form. The Demons needs to just go out and play hard contested ball and no matter the result, just prove to their fans that they tried.

Tigers roaring into September
Richmond fans are celebrating this afternoon as their beloved Tigers sewn up a spot in the top 8 and guaranteed themselves finals action in 2013. On the back off a 28 point win against the Demons at Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon, the Tigers move into 6th position on the ladder with 2 games remaining. Richmond will take on Fremantle over at Paterson's Stadium next week and then will finish the year off travelling to the Gold Coast to take on the Suns in a winnable game.

It will be the first time the Tiger army has seen september action since 2001 when they were knocked out by the Brisbane Lions (who went on to win the premiership) in the preliminary final by 68 points. 12 years on and the Tigers are facing a new challenge.
In front of 37,043 people at Etihad the Tigers stormed home kicking 8 goals in the last quarter to stitch up victory. The game had been rather close all day, but the more experience shone at the end with the Tigers over running the young Demons by 28 points.

It was the Tigers midfield that really got on top despite loosing the centre clearances. It was players like Brett Deledio and Trent Cotchin who shone for the Tigers. Deledio finished with a season high 38 possessions, while Captain Trent Cotchin proved why he is one of the best up and coming youngsters in the game with a 34 possession, 6 clearance display. Jake King was back to his best and found a heap of the ball. The push up king provided with 32 possessions, and 8 inside 50's as he roamed through the midfield more this afteroon then he normally would. Shaun Grigg and Dustin Martin provided plenty of coverage also getting plenty of the ball through the middle with 29 and 27 possessions.

Coleman Medallist Jack Riewoldt finished with 5 goals as the Demons defenders weren't able to hold him, while Damian Hardwick threw Jayden Post forward after starting the match in defense and he finished with his career best 3 goals, along with Luke McGuane who also was a defender turn forward, he finished with 2 goals next to his name.

Max Gawn finally hit the scoreboard for the Demons as his coach had been patient with the 208cm giant after a few quiet weeks, even though Gawn had little disposal the big man got in dangerous positions and finished the day with 3 goals from 5 possessions. Chris Dawes added another 3 goals next to his season tally and finding himself in good positions and changing his style as a lead up forward, while Mitch Clark played more as the stand in full forward finished with 8 possessions and 2 goals, also going into the ruck and winning 13 hitouts next to his name.

Young Demon Rory Taggert was back to his best picking up 33 possessions, laying 5 tackles and 6 clearances in one of his best efforts for the season, while Shannon Byrnes who played more midfield this afternoon also found some form with 27 touches and 6 tackles. Nathan Jones has been a consistent performer for the Demons over the period of 3-4 years and finished the day with 24 possessions, while Demon tagger Jordie McKenzie is starting to develop his game into bigger and better things with 21 possessions and 5 tackles for the day.

Some good signs for the Demons, but with their 18th loss of the year, there will be some big talking points for this club in the pre season. Coach Sumner has already put it out their that no body is safe on this list and he will use the next 2 weeks to really see where guys are at and if they want to stay at this club or if they want or should be moved on. The Demons only have 1 match remaining for 2013 and that is a winnable game against the Kangaroos at the MCG with the club having a bye in round 24. The Demons will be without defender Luke Tapscott who injured his back in the game against the Tigers and was subbed out at 3/4 time.

Match Preview: Round 23 - Melbourne vs North Melbourne
These two sides have a very good history, and this match is shaping up to be a great game. Both Melbourne and North have struggled in 2013, with the Kangaroos winning 6 games for the year and the Demons with just the 3 wins, but both sides will be looking to make this one count as a W.
This will be the Demons final match in 2013 as next week they have the bye in round 24, while the Kangaroos will take on Fremantle at Etihad next weekend in their final outing for 2013.

Melbourne have made a few changes to the side this weekend, in their bid to win their 4th match for the year. Luke Tapscott injured his back in last weekends loss against the Tigers and will be aiming to start the 2014 pre season in November. Lucas Cook and Sam Blease have both been omitted from the side. While Jeremy Howe gets a call up after missing the game against the Tigers last weekend, with James Strauss replacing Luke Tapscott in defense, and Josh Tynan comes back into the side after kicking 6 goals for Casey in the VFL last weekend.

The Kangaroos have made only the one change with Cam Richardson needing surgery on his broken hand suffered against the Bulldogs last weekend, while Shaun Atley has been named as his replacement.

Season over for the Demons
Round 23 has concluded which means the Melbourne Demons season from hell is finally over with the Demons failing to win their last match of the year going down by 20 points to North Melbourne at the MCG on Saturday afternoon.
The loss takes the total to 3 wins for the year for the Demons, equalling the effort from Mark Neeld last year and new coach Hayden Sumner has found it tough in his first season in charge. Sumner still has 1 more year on his contract remaining and if another failed season, questions will be getting asked.
