Was a tough but scrappy game, the both sides laid some hard tackles, although the Tongans extra size meant theirs pushed into the savage region.

The other Canadian team was looking pretty good against the US when the rain came down and I wimped out and came home. Will try and see some more games later in the week though (I live ~500m from the grounds).

Couldn't make it for the early games, but saw all of the men's game. Canada much too good for China 19.5 to 0.1. Too big and stong mostly, and definitely too good in the air. Managed some decent continuity at stages. A few big clean grabs in front of goal, especially in the 3rd.

My feet are cold.

8.05 min mark of the midnight suns v Tonga. Tonga does a good tackle on a big Tongan girl, and gets the free, but everyone else seems to think it is Tongas free. Confusion reigns until Tonga eventually gets the ball, and then kicks into the Tongan girl on the mark. Tongan girl picks the ball up, and Tonga tackles her again. Then gets the 50 because the Tongan girl had gone over the mark. Tonga then makes a good pass to some spud who drops it. Quite funny, follow?

Tch.

"To run up a score like that, that is wrong," said my fellow Kingstonian, Don Cherry ... "it is not the Canadian way."

Nah, they weren't going out of their way to run up the score or rub it in, they were just a class above; a team of GOOD CANADIAN KIDS(*) playing a GOOD PHYSICAL BRAND OF GAME.

(and hey, how about that 19-inning Jays game yesterday? Melky! Jenkins!)

(*) to be read in the Don Cherry voice, or at the very least, the Steve Dangle impression of Don Cherry voice.
