What a meltdown.

Nick Maxwell says he wants to be a footy club executive. Eddie jokes 'might send him up to Sydney, they need all the help they can get'.

Ah Eddie. Nothing classier than using the retirement presser for a favoured son , and Premiership Cpt to snipe at personal rivals.

It's all about you Eddie. We get it already.

AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan has called time on the Eddie McGuire v Sydney Swans war of words while also declaring AFL academies would remain in NSW.
McLachlan said the AFL will continue to support the NSW academies, despite the outspoken Collingwood president declaring it created an unfair advantage for Victorian teams.

“I support the academy system and they’re there for a specific reason, we need more talented athletes coming out of New South Wales and Queensland,” McLachlan said today.

Ah Eddie - just like you helped Ch9 out when you came to Sydney. You stuffed up so much they couldn't move you back to Melbourne fast enough.

Real classy CEO - showing Maxwell a lot of respect.

If Maxwell wants to learn about senior management then who better to learn from the Ed?
Sure he failed in the CEO role at Channel 9 but he did last 16 months!
Channel 9 was a step down from being the president of Collingwood anyway.

Well seeing as we're talking Eddie getting his Collingwood role mixed up in his professional life remember this:

He joked on The Footy Show he'd rather win a Premiership than improve ch9's ratings. One week later he was politely kicked out on his arse. That's how multi billion dollar corporations really work. :D

It's a done deal. Eddie, Newbold and Gill met on Monday as part of the Equalisation working party and discussed changing the Bidding rules for the Academies.

At that meeting, "Both working party presidents (Eddie and Newbold) urged the AFL to fix the compromised draft and Acadaemy bidding rules".

The article states:

"McLachlan is understood to have told the coaches who attended his private dinner on Monday night that the AFL would change the academy bidding system and potentially that of the similar father-son mechanism".

So basically, after Eddie chucked the most horrific wobbly in recent years, he then calmly attended a meeting as if nothing untoward had happened and in his capacity as an Equalisation Committee member ****ed US IN THE ARSE!!!

I'm genuinely shocked.

The balls on that guy are amazing.

Pridham, if you're reading this, I think you should make it your job in life to ensure Eddie is never allowed to be part of any form of working committee again. No one that impartial, and that histrionic in his dealings with the expansion clubs should be allowed to dictate terms to us in this way.

Gill. Weak as piss mate. You're truly a puppet, if all this plays out as it appears. I had hopes for some change with your appointment. It's really disappointing that the League is essentially being run by one or two powerful clubs.

So what's the washup? Apparently, we can only have 1 Father son/Academy player per draft.

This means that if Dunkly and Mills were in the same draft, we only get to pick one.

Interestingly, the article states some figures: the AFL contributes $250k towards the Academy. So basically, the Swans and its friends contribute $750k plus. And get a chance at one player per year.

LOL so all the money that we have spent and resources another club can just pick up a Mills or Dunkley for nothing? oh well we can just get Dunkley to do a Cyril and tank the interviews :p

Notice its the same people involved as the COLA discussion? Eddie and Newbold clearly agenda driven.

Club recruiter from a team other than Sydney, "So tell us about yourself".

Dunkley, "I'm a holocaust denier with a poor work ethic and a predilection for age innapropriate pornography. Oh and I think (insert name of said recruiter's club) are a bunch of w***ers. :p

Oh well. We probably shouldn't get too worked up. All of this was decided in the New York a year ago. Que sera sera.

That's cool. Swans walk away from the academy. It is not our job to grow the game for the AFL. Tell them to setup their own academy and now you will see our self interest. We will exist only to grow our BRAND AND act purely in self interest like Collingwood.

* Gil, * Eddie and * you AFL. Pissed.

It's just ******* ridiculous every single interstate equalization method is being taken away from us with none of the disadvantages being solved.
