GWS guernsey spotted in far northern Australia

[Experimental]

G'day guys and girls,

I was watching First Contact last night on SBS which is a documentary about 6 non-Indigenous Australians getting an insight into Aboriginal Australia. Anyway, they were in far northern Australia in a little place called Nyinyikay, Northern Terrirtory - so remote that it's not even on Google maps; and has a population of 20.

To get to the point of this thread, one of the Indigenous men from Nyinyikay was wearing a GWS Giants guernsey while they were turtle hunting. I had to rewind a few times to confirm what I had seen, but alas, the big G on the front of the jumper was in plain sight.

What a fascinating place to find a Giants guernsey!

Could also be someone who plays local footy for either the Galiwinku Giants or the Barkly Giants - both NT teams carrying our name and colours. Not sure where either are based.

It had Canberra on the back of the neck, so I assumed it was GWS!

Sheeds brought down several groups of NT and TS Island guys to Giants games, could have been one of them

Didn't pick up on it in the first episode, but I'm watching the second episode now and one of the guys from that same community is wearing a Giants cap. Pretty sweet!

Barkly Giants are based in Tennant Creek. Still going through the process of becoming incorporated. We have a facebook page 'Barkly Giants Football Club'. Ultimate goal is to have a senior and U17 team play in the AFL Centralia Australia League.
