Finally got the game and absolutely pumped to play this!!

Do I have to wait for the download to download before I can play?

Seems like 343 really ****ed this up
Is that fair to say? (I haven't bought it yet myself)
It's a real shame as it's hurting the Halo brand and has killed the hype for one of XB1's big holiday titles.

I'll just say, If the community disappears before this is fixed (hope to god that this weeks patch fixes it), then I'll never forgive 343.

This had, and still has the potential to be something great.

To the people banging on about the multiplayer issues, how's the status of the GTA Brand? GTA V had one of, if not the most disastrous multiplayer launch ever seen in a video game, but not only did they handle it pretty well- stacks upon stacks of sheep are lining up to buy the exact same game again only a year later.

Not even getting started on Battlefield 4.

No clue why this is such a big deal; almost every big multiplayer game has launch issues.

Gamers move on quickly these days to the next hot release, so I hope 343 can fix it because this should have had gamers captivated for a long time.

This is true, but Halo MCC was a much more important release than the above games you mentioned (IMO).

It's important for Microsoft for Xbox sales/setting it apart from the PS4, important for long time halo fans as it offers for the first time the ability to play every single brilliant multiplayer map through one interface and at 60 fps, and IMO important for gaming in general, as hopefully it grabs a lot of the kids that grew up on mindless COD like games and shows them what a truly great, balanced FPS multiplayer game looks like.

I really hope they can sort it out before it's too late.

They already hurt the Halo brand with Halo 4.

playing H4 campaign and the enemies are just ******* terrible.

I didn't mind the Halo 4 campaign for the most part, I do agree some of the enemy designs are not Halo-like.
It was a graphical showcase for the 360 though, one of the best looking games on the system.
MP was really average, it's like they were trying to make it like COD.

I'm playing Halo Reach again atm and it's making me wish Bungie would return.

Bungie were already going down this path with Reach, if they were still making Halo we would have got a MP like Destiny imo.

343 need to stop chasing the CoD crowd, they're still doing it in Halo 5 though.

To say this game was a 'much' more important release than GTA V, which was by far the most overhyped game ever, is drawing a pretty long bow.

and too late? If the problems persist for several months, then maybe, but if people were prepared to wait one and a half months for GTA to have a functional multiplayer & are even prepared to buy the same game at full price a year later, then I'm quite certain this game won't have any problems assembling a community.

Even if the multiplayer was ruined, the game is easily worth full price anyway. You're getting ****ing 40+ hours of an amazing single-player campaign & local split-screen multiplayer!

This apparently what 343 will fix in the next patch.

MATCHMAKING Addressed a number of issues that resulted in extended matchmaking times and low matchmaking success rates.

We have additional content updates on the way, and work is already underway in an effort to continue to improve your experience with Halo: The Master Chief Collection. We thank you for your continued patience and support.

That's the thing, they shouldn't be launching with issues at all that's why its unforgivable. No matter what game it is.
I don't disagree, but save all the hysteria for when they **** it up as badly as Rockstar did. If people are prepared to re-buy GTA V at full price 1 year later after how horribly the multiplayer launch for that game was, then I have no doubts MCC will at very least retain a strong community.
