Not so fast:
Martin - 29 disposals (@75.9% eff), 11 contested, 6 clearances, 5 i50s, 6 tackles, 3 goals and a goal assist.
Shuey - 19 disposals (@94.7% eff), 10 contested, 7 clearances, 5 i50s, 9 tackles, 1 goal and 2 goal assists.
Stats still favour Martin.
What I mean is the Suns was a s**t game, no pressure, the last 3'4 was a trott.

The Freo derby was high pressure with quality opposition. It is a case of stats are not of real concern.

Think Dusty and Shuey take the cake this week, stats wise dusty was the best but the suns didn't put up much fight tbh (will probably get the 10 coaches votes though). Hartlett was very solid, especially early. Ziebell was a little quiet but not bad by any means.

I try to call it as I see it.
Rance over Mackenzie was still gah though.

I know you won't agree, but it's pretty widely accepted that rance is the best defender in the league

The current popularity of this opinion does not increase its validity.
Particularly when the discussion of Mackenzie v Rance centres on 2014.

Or maybe you are bias and that's why you believe mackenzie got snubbed? The selectors chose who they believed to be better. The person that was selected is a lock for this year too, further justifying the selection.

Anyway don't want to derail this thread, it was going well

Obviously no point derailing the thread.
But bias runs two ways.

Hartlett has clearly had the worst year of the 3. But it hasn't been bad by any sense of the word.

Going forward, I would probably only take Martin ahead. On par with shuey. But I'd wouldn't hesitate in taking Hartlett before ziebell

According to AFLstats:
Shuey - Currently the 13th best Midfielder in the AFL
Martin - 33rd best

Tizza's midfielder ratings:
Luke Shuey
Awareness, Skill and Vision: 72.75%
Strength, hardness insider: 59.1%
Explosive Danger factor: 70.8%
Outside Accumulator: 34%
Complete Midfielder rating: 63.4%
Shuey has been consistently improving in the past 2 years, however he had a quiet 2013 statistically which drag down his averages. If he continues to improve his disposal efficiency which stats show he is, he could creep past the 80% mark EDF which would put him second behind Gaz as a EDF!

Dustin Martin
Awareness, Skill and Vision: 77.75%
Strength, hardness insider: 38.8%
Explosive Danger factor: 63.4%
Outside Accumulator: 57.3%
Complete Midfielder rating: 58.81%

Dusty disappointed in many categories for me personally, he just isn't that impressive statistically. Many of his physical attributes I rated were through the roof, however he has too many holes to be a specialist in any category really. To be a higher rated ASV and EDF he really needs to up his effective disposal. I can forgive Fyfe and Dangerfields efficiency because they are clearance beasts but dusty has a very poor clearance rating and is more of a OA than a SHI. to top it off his disposal efficiency has remained consistently average over the last 3 years, where as Danger and Fyfe's ED has improved each year.

I'll take my boy Shuey every day of the week. No bias. /s
