Autopsy Hawks vs Buddy Boy and the COLA kids

Greg Denham on SEN just joined the chorus of media "experts" to say that had the swans kicked accurately, they would have won.
Why is it that the team that loses is the only one who can retrospectively kick more accurately??

And if your Aunty had balls, she'd be your Uncle.

Thank you, Captain F***ing Obvious!

And yet today I heard the tail end of a conversation on KB's show about whether what Breust does to his opponent in the marking contest is legal! Buddy is fending off players right left and center and they single out Breust?

Fair dinkum KB has a massive case of double standards.

As in he is biased and doesn't apply the same performance criteria to all players. He has his favourites.

He would also have to have been the biggest "receiver" going around in his day. Just a big cry baby.

If Bruest is not holding, making high contact or pushing in the back he can hold his ground and fend off as much as he likes.

Buddy ends up making high contact with a lot of his fend offs because he is usually fending off smaller guys as many of his direct opponents are his size but mostly they can't catch him.

It staggers me how bone headed some of these commentators are, they get and idea in their head and go with it without actually looking into the game in depth, we outplayed Sydney for the best part of 3 quarters in that match.

As I just posted it is like the myth the Fremantle would have beaten us in the GF last year if they kicked straight.

A simplistic answer to a much deeper issue.

Goal kicking alone is generally not the reason games are lost.

Scoring is the culmination of a lot of other things going to plan beforehand.

The swans goal kicking conversion rate for the last month has been around 45%, which is pretty much what it was against us.

It's how they roll. In fact the game against west coast their goal kicking efficiciency was down around 35%.

It's not like it was a once off - they're not an accurate team.

The hawks on the other hand have only kicked more behinds than goals once this year. Most of the time around. 55-60% of our scores are goals.

We are just better at that part of the game than Sydney and proved it again on Saturday night. Ifs are a waste of time when you look at the year-long trend.

If the media wanted to stop it they would highlight it in a segment of slow mos.
They could do the same with illegal blocking and holding of the ball.

But surely it is up to the AFL to manage the game without any heat/pressure from the media. They (AFL) would have access to all of the footage and surely someone in their office keeps a close eye on certain "developing illegal trends" in the game.

The media already have waaaay too much impact on certain outcomes.

The MRP just to name one important one.

It just goes to show where the game is "at" currently.

It's all turned into one big money making business and everyone wants their slice of the pie.

It would seem that the most relevant and important aspect of the game after the clubs/player,s has been badly forgotten; THE SPECTATOR.

If no one wants to watch something it eventually becomes irrelevant.

AFL House, are you listening?

The media toes the line or they get sent to Siberia

Siberia it is then.

Send the f$#ken whole lot of them.

Most of them wouldn't even be allowed to write newspaper articles back in the good old days.

Actually most of them probably wouldn't even be able to.

Its a catch 22
You ask The AFL or Tony Abbot a tough question you dont get the email invitation to the next interview opportunity
It guarantees a compliant press and soft coverage
Welcome to today's journalism
