Hawthorn membership tally 2015 - 70,000 plus loose change!!!

Haha, it still seems a bit strange that this is the figure we kick off with, thinking back to the ol' days 20 years ago and more where we'd be overjoyed in getting anywhere close to this as our final figure...

Nowadays I'm pissed that our starting figure didn't hit 40,000.

This raised tho questions in my mind. First, how dos this compare with 2014? And second, would 75,000 be a realistic target?

One thing the club did do different for 2015 is set all memberships to auto-renewal "hawk direct". This will obviously inflate our starting figures..

Personally I have 3 memberships which I would renew around December each year, however this year they were automatically switched to "Hawk Direct".. I was going to renew anyway so wasn't terribly fussed. This is probably a clever tactic to get those signed up who procrastinate right up til the first few rounds of the season..

Thank you.

They've been doing this for years though (since 2009 when we hit 30,000 before Christmas)

As we get more members and the Hawks Direct 'opt in' becomes more mainstream a higher portion of our members will sign up pre Christmas.

Last year we had 55,000 members before the new year, given we are 6,000 or so up on this time last year it wouldn't surprise me if we hit 60,000 before Christmas (before tapering out to 70,000 or so)

But they have never switched everyone over to "Hawk Direct" automatically without them having to opt in.

We really should get 75,000 members by the middle of next year. That should be the clubs target. Any higher then that would be a bonus of course.

Mines not switched to Hawks Direct. Never has been

OK..I received a letter early October telling me that my membership has automatically been switched to "Hawk Direct" and to contact the club if I did not wish to switch. We have 3 memberships and always paid for them up front in December each year.

I didn't bother contacting the club, so now I'm paying the memberships over 10 monthly instalments ;)

Interesting.
Maybe mine is too hard for them as i have a Family Interstate Gold as well as 2 more kids Interstate Gold.

I only say it's too hard, as every year when i renew it takes 2 phone calls.
For some reason, they cannot get it right. They'll renew the Family membership but not the youngest 2 kids or vice versa.

Without fail every year. It's only been 6 years in a row. But I/we love the club so i don't complain ;)

It appears everyone is desperate to give their money directly to the AFL these days.

I know that AFL members have always been massive Vlad fans and now have Gillon to cheer on, but personally I support Hawthorn not the AFL.

So even though we have a healthy figure of 39,000 members how much of this revenue will the AFL be taking to give to the $wa.... aaarrrrh I mean EQUALISATION?
