Big risk looking at a stadium to hold matches at.

Carlton had one.
Then the AFL stopped scheduling matches there.
Yeah you are one AFL hissy fit away from having a stranded asset and a massive liability. You would need contracts in place to secure games for the payback period at least.

It's common knowledge clubs give players programs to follow during the off-season!
Been happening for years
Not sure what the argument is about

Can us fans get off-season programs as well ? :)

Think about it... if we all were a little trimmer, they'd fit more of us into the MCG in 2015 !

Thats exactly what I'm saying Echols.

The club isn't officially allowed to give them programs but somehow the players know exactly what they should be doing.
I'm not sure even this is right.

"Jack" Russel is in a recent video on the club site talking about the programs they gave players in their time off.

It's not right
Players are given programs to follow during the off-season, so they come back at a certain fitness level, ready to get into pre-season training
It's even more important for clubs that go deep into September the previous year
Don't want to fall too far behind other clubs fitness levels

I shared a house for years with an AFL footballer and his "off-season" program was just as hectic as his pre-season

So we can rule out anywhere more than 30km from the city. Finding suitable zoned land big enough will be interesting.
glen waverly?
I said it before, the council is looking to limit the cost of maitenance, has plenty of room to develop, is big enough to not infringe on local comps, and is in our heartland

C
$50m construction project in Perth would get you a corner Deli with a bumpy driveway & some pot-plants...

I hope Melbourne is a li'l different :)
50 mil is just the Hawthorn component Of the Eastern Football Hub development i think you will find.
The Hawks should be the major partner with its investment, along with other bodies.

Why not Box Hill City Oval?

Smack bang in our supporter heartland, a real toast to our 15 year Box Hill relationship and a happy medium between Glenferrie and Waverley
Sorry no good, as it is open to the public and as it has been stated Hawthorn require more space and privacy at a second training venue.

This would be pretty nifty, I live fairly close to Waverley Park and Central Reserve... would still be able to go for a look, before being escorted out by security.
Are you George Stone?

As I said, it's big enough to develop, the council is trying to cut costs, so it makes for an easier take over
It wouldn't impact the local clubs too much (probably open it up for free for the local club), and would allow the club to branch into other sports

Play lawn bowls with Clarko :D (instead of the number 1 fan thing)

* For those not aware Central Reserve has a lawn bowls club nearby.
