IN A TOTALLY OBJECTIVE CONTEXT DO WE NEED TO CONSIDER COACHING STAFF WITH A HAWTHORN PEDIGREE?

I think Buckley is tracking alright, I really don't know what people expect of the team when you turn over the list as much as we have.

Maybe its the mixed messages the club keeps sending out raising expectations too high.

At the start of the year when Pert came out and said the club thinks it can win a flag this season is a mistake, need to be realistic and hose down expectations not raise them. Really not sure why people would buy into it anyway as it was obvious we were miles off with too many holes and players who simply can't execute simple kicking skills.

Did we do such a review in 2014? Can anybody help me on this one? Cheers.

Kinda ...

2014's review was of our fitness and medical departments.

We sacked our strength coach and our club doctor.

We poached Geelong's club doctor and hired a bio-mechanics expert.

So to keep this on topic, any suggestions for replacements? This is a serious question.

Maybe someone who will challenge Bucks ideas and bring a new perspective, I reckon That's Gold has a fair point. I just get the feeling there are a lot of yes men around, Anthony Rocca's addresses to the forward line in the VFL are laughable sounds like an under 12's coach.

I think Bucks needs a senior steadier in the box, If its, good enough for Hardwick and others to have guys like Choco Williams and Dean Laidley around then its good enough for us, I would suggest Brian Royal, John Worsfold or even Matthew Knights, Bucks seems to need a fresh set of eyes and a different perspective.

I'm happy with Grace (and it's too early to ditch him anyway).
Monty is a good mids coach and Ben Hart's defence was pretty good earlier in the year.

I'm on record as having little confidence in Harvey. His track record isn't great and while he makes a good player mentor, I don't think he cuts it in terms of strategic and tactical game management.
I'd be looking at ditching Harvs and bringing in Dale Tapping

I like your idea about Woosha.
Although I doubt he'd move out of Perth. Another 2 options? Gerald Fitzgerald or Gary Ayres.
Senior coaches who are also senior in age and aren't a threat to Bucks.

Both have won flags, have been head coaches and would provide alternate views in the coaches box

Facts are when it comes to a newbie coach non of us are in a position to know who is better. We don't know what their personalities are like nor what they actually do at their clubs. IF you want to talk about getting a senior coach ala Ross lyon then at least that can be discussed with some knowledge behind it.

I want Bucks to stay as coach. Although we are losing games, I still like his vision for the club and am (trying to remain) optimistic about the future it holds.

But - I was thinking the exact same thing last night: we need to look at the succesful organisations (right now Hawthorn) and try and nab some people from their coaching staff and front office.
I dont think many of us here can profess to know much about what happens behind closed doors... but you wonder about the coaching abilities of some of our guys who have no real prior coaching experience.

Agree on Rocca - have heard him in action.
As for the 'senior steadier', we have brought back Balme, so if we're looking at Harvey, I'd agree that the person in that role should not stay too long.

I would like to see specialist coach say for our young ruckmen, I know we tried to employ Peter Moore but we couldn't (rules? Salary affecting his son?) but who is currently doing it now? Rocca? Not sure who is available Salmon? Madden? Cox from WC would be great but doubt we would get him.

Bucks is at least ok as a coach, and our recruiting is partly based on having Bucks there with the players he's endorsed and a stable direction for the club to be taking.

I guess we could use a comedic sidekick for pressers

We had Rocket Eade play that role, I'm not sure it made much of a difference?

Essendon were pretty competitive when Bomber Thompson was the senior figurehead behind Hird.

I doubt he'd leave his comfortable media gigs, but he's also a possibility.

But isn't Neil Balme meant to be doing this job?

I'm with you, Maggie.
Full time, if it will get us the best available.

Don't think Balme or Eade were in the box with Bucks, I think he needs a wise old head to bounce different ideas off and be challenged to a certain extent, anything that will help him and the club even by 5% should be explored even if that makes him a bit uncomfortable at first or at times.

I forget, how do we know they're all yes men in the box again?

How are we certain no one challenges Bucks idea's?

Do we have a mole in the box?

How very clever of us.
