In Daryl Morey we trust - Houston Rockets Thread

I haven't watched all yet but so far off what I have seen I think he has to be playing a lot with the second unit to help them out. With D-Mo out we are a bit small imo, really need to sign another big. Can't rely on Howard and D-Mo staying injury free because it won't happen.

relying more on T Jones

K J McDaniels carving up today, the depth on our team now looks great

Sure does. Deepest we've ever been probably. Thornton has looked a solid get, Capela looked good today.

On KJ he just has to hit the three consistently to get into the rotation.

I ended up just going via India yesterday - $156 for standard. More than I paid the last couple of years IIRC
What VPN site you use? Bit hesitant about using them for various reasons. Suppose you only really need it to buy LP and not stream every game directly from that country.

I just used ibVPN - 6 hour free trial, which was plenty of time, used a fake name and email.

And yeah I think this is my fourth year running it, once you purchase the subscription the whole thing just acts as if you paid for it in aus dollars.

Appreciate it mate, set it up tonight surprised how easy it was. Premium for $208 through Egypt love the Rockets commentary team too much to not pay the extra few bucks haha.

With our season starting tomorrow would be cool to see this thread get more active :thumbsu: Especially if people need to vent after a poor Terrence Jones game ;)

Be interesting to hear how people here started supporting the Rockets...

First started following ball in 06/07 back in those Yao and McGrady days, and for years would only watch what I could on One or mainly just look at box scores and what not. Actually have no idea why I chose to start supporting the rockets, think maybe I just liked the logo. Credit to my mate (heat fan) he got me pretty keen to watch it more closely around 2011/2012, when people at school often had those dodgy live streams going. That mate also followed college ball pretty well and said we had picked up some gems in the 2012 draft (Royce White, TJones and JLamb). Those draft picks coinciding with picking up Jeremy Lin (alright i got overly excited for Linsanity in Htown hahah) and Omer Asik and watching some of the triple double specialist Royce White's college highlights was enough for me to purchase League Pass just after my 18th bday. Couple days later we traded for James Harden, which i was actually disappointed with at first with considering we lost Jeremy Lamb and multiple picks. Any who, I eventually saw Harden was a jet and remember rocking up to my year 12 Physics exam (day of our season opener in 2012/2013) and telling my mates "Harden will drop 40 today and a 50 burger tomorrow vs the Hawks" haha :D:p

Pretty much since that been following religiously, try to watch as many games live as I can being at uni at present. Spent many hours looking at clutchfans over the years as well, but hoping this becomes a good source for Aussie rockets fans :thumbsu:

I think we can get it going, I know most of us post or lurk ClutchFans but it's probably easier for discussion if we can get this going.

I've followed since around 89-90 sometime, I've played basketball since I was 6 or 7 and just remember everyone went for the Lakers, Celtics and the Jordan bandwagon was beginning so I went a bit different and went for the Rockets, I remember seeing on a video Sampson's buzzer beater to beat the Lakers in the WCF and I then started collecting Hakeem cards. Back in the 90's it was pretty much watching videos and reading results in the paper, 94 and 95 finals were slightly delayed on TV at like 2am so I would record and watch the next morning, I've still got the Clutch and Double Clutch Championship VHS's somewhere. I remember thinking we would win another one for sure when we got Barkley but just didn't happen and then again during the Yao/T-Mac days. Remember when NBA first was on Austar here Rockets were never on and then before league pass I used to pay some dude in Houston who would give you access to watch his stream of the channel Rockets games were on.

Given that I'm a Richmond fan I certainly appreciate the Rockets. Would have liked to see another championship but we're always competitive, the only terrible seasons in the whole time I've supported the Rockets have been mainly due to injuries to key guys which seems to be the Rockets curse :(

Started in the 90s with Hakeem. Flip flopped between the Rox and the Sonics but decided to go for Houston.

No Dwight today so will be interesting to see how we go on the boards considering we were dreadful there last year without Dwight. WIll probably see some small ball as well.
First day of annual leave today so will get to watch live. Some good timing on my part :p

I've sort of made my peace with us having games like that, due to how we play, but man it sucks to see it on opening day.

Yeah expected better but given how s**t we were in last pre season game I'm not surprised. Jones plays soo soft it's really hurting us. Harrell should have gotten more minutes.

Beverley had the most rebounds. Need Dwert back.

Pardon the non-Rocket intrusion, but this brought back real memories for me.

I remember the family went up to Canberra to stay with relatives over holidays (can't remember if it was school or Queens Bday weekend?), and my brothers and I got to sleep downstairs in the den with the TV.

Canberra nights in June are freezing, but I remember staying up to watch two or three of the Knicks/Rockets Finals games at 2am or whenever it was on.

One of the underrated Finals series for mine, so evenly matched. I think most of it is up on Youtube from memory.
