Round 16
adelaide-spartans-logo-jpg.20693
fitzroy-bulldogs-logo-jpg.20707
As the season draws a close on one of these teams, a finals opportunity is right open for the other. Round 16 sees the Adelaide Spartans host the Fitzroy Bulldogs at the Adelaide Oval. Just like last week, the only thing the Spartans are playing for is to put a dent in someones finals campaign. The Bulldogs who currently sit 5th would not want to let this game slip, otherwise the last couple of weeks in August will be all but a fantasy for fitzroybulldog.

Surprisingly enough, the battle between 5th and 9th was actually the match of the round. Just like last week, the Spartans showed the guts and passion they had lacked for most of the season and put up one hell of a fight. But the Fitzroy Bulldogs were too strong winning by 18 points, 1542-1560.

The Spartans couldn't quite get the back to back wins they were after but the signs are ominous from next year and behind. The Spartans are starting to click.

Round 17
melbourne-thunder-logo-jpg.20714

Who would have thought back in Round 8, that the winless Spartans in 10th place on the ladder would beat DeeWong6996 's Melbourne Thunder who at the time sat top of the table with only 1 loss. That's exactly what happened. This time around, the Spartans travel to Melbourne where these two teams are in similar ladder positions as last time. 1st placed Thunder v 9th placed Spartans.

Boy oh boy. WOWEE!!! The Spartans have won again. For the second week in a row, the game of the round involved the Spartans who ran home by 10 points in a nail-biter. Final scores being Melbourne Thunder 1444 defeated by Adelaide Spartans 1454.

It now looks that the Spartans may be the Thunders bogey side. The Thunder who are looking at towards a top of the table finish has lost both games to the Spartans. Where has this Spartans form come from?

Round 18
adelaide-spartans-logo-jpg.20693
noosa-mooses-logo-jpg.20777
Final the last game of the season. The Spartans had this game eyed off a few weeks back as they knew that their season was gone. They just wanted it too end and come back bigger and better next season. But has it now come at the wrong time? The Spartans have all of a sudden found a bit of form and has been matching games with the top sides, including 2 wins over top of the table opponents. Round 18 sees the Adelaide Spartans facing Danger in Texas 's's's Noosa Mooses who are also looking at finals and even a top of the table finish.

For the fourth week in a row the Spartans will be looking to put a dent into the finals campaign of one of the top sides playing finals. They will be looking to shatter the confidence of the Mooses. After a really competitive 4 weeks, playing like a top side, the Spartans finally ran out of juice. Danger in Texas 's's's's's's's Noosa Mooses winning 1458 to 1655. A final margin of 197 points.

Now that the season has finally ended for the Spartans, they will be looking toward 2014 and hoping to make amends after a dismal 2013 season. The Spartans have finished the year with 5 wins. This could be a major plus as the Spartans started the season with 7 losses, not looking like picking up a win.

Adelaide Spartans Season Comes to a Close

After weeks of disappointment. After weeks of embarrassment. The Adelaide Spartans season has finally come to a close.
The Adelaide Spartans inaugural season started horribly when the Spartans first 7 games all ended in loses. Their first win of the season, when they upset the top of the table Melbourne Thunder. Coming toward the half-way break, the Spartans looked set to get the #1 pick in the OFGFL Mid-Season Draft. However they came out in round 10 to get a much deserved win against Hobart Xtreme and jumped them on the ladder.
Mid-Season brought the delistings of Jake Melksham, Liam Anthony, Phil Davis and Sam Reid. But this also ended in Steven Motlop being upgraded to the senior list and the recruitments of Kade Simpson, Ryan Lester, Josh Thomas and Jason Winderlich.
The season resumed in Round 11 when the Spartans knocked off another top of the table opponent in the Geelong West Sparrows. The first back to back wins in the Spartans history. However that match was a won off as the Spartans would go on to lose 3 games in a row and lose them convincingly. Round 15 would bring up the Spartans next win against another table topper in the Cape York Caterpillars. The next and last win would come in Round 17 when the Spartans travelled to Melbourne to face table toppers, Melbourne Thunder.
The Spartans would eventually finish the 2013 OFGFL Season in 9th place on the ladder with 5 wins and 13 losses. But it appears to be that 4 out of the 5 wins were against teams that were sitting top of the ladder at that time. So a positive going into next year.
Please stay tuned as the Adelaide Spartans Best and Fairest Night will take place shortly. We will announce the Spartans best and fairest of 2013 as well as other various awards.

Great stuff smartys. Dedication, eloquance and persistence, I could take a few lessons from you.

Cheers mate. I was really tempted to just stop and give up but I had already done a fair bit so I thought to just continue. And when it's done it's done.

I get the feeling that fitzroybulldog is ahead of me at this stage, will need a good game by ablett to win i feel, just my hunch of looking at some scores no totals

So ablett hey. Ouch. Reiwoldt on the other hand. Wowee! But I still reckon you'll reel me in.

Let me preface this by saying, boy oh boy WOWEE!
