Barlow out is big, but easily covered by our depth of Mora/Suban/Deboer all currently out of the side.

I don't agree that Suban or DeBoer are coverage for players of the quality of Barlow or Fyfe for that matter. Morabito? maybe. At least he is a similar size and can play inside and outside.

It's all about the tap-in. Mundy will have to be enormous as Fyfe and Barlow are so excellent at finding it - but if you watch the Hawks game from the 2nd quarter onwards Mundy absolutely dominated and found the ball into our forward half several times.

Don't discount Crowley as well - when he takes his mind of tagging momentarily he's an immaculate ball winner in the centre, as is Morabito and Neale and even Suban can chip in. We're actually going to miss Fyfe and Barlow more in the forward line, they typically contribute 3-4 goals between each week.

So I think it's Morabito and Ballantyne straight in. Ballantyne relieves the forward pressure and Morabito helps out in the middle. I'd love to see Ibbotson back in defence to provide extra support but can't see Duffy or Taberner being dropped as we need them in the forward line.

With the way we played this weekend Brisbane we will account for Brisbane, it's an enraged Port fighting for 4th spot (finding its feet) that I'm more concerned about.

Sorry guys, after my weekend I'm thinking I should never watch a game of football ever again. I went to Pies v Lions & Dees v GWS and all know how those turned out - last count I think it was about 12 injuries. Then I finally watched the Freo game last night only to find this news out today.

Sucks about Barlow but it sounds like he's pretty lucky with the severity of it. Coniglio broke his thumb in round 16, I was sitting near him on Sunday & he was still in a cast.

Is Michael Barlow any chance of playing against Port Adelaide. Could they make him play with injections, a splint and wear a solid glove for protection? Or is that too risky for finals and he wont be risked.

Hands can be funny sometimes they have been originally said to be 5-6 weeks and end up being 1-2. Sometimes they have been said to be 1-2 and ended up as 5-6.

If Port beat you in the last week you guys are basically playing off for 4th and 5th position in the last week of the home and away.

He did it during the third and kept playing so I doubt it's a 5-6 weeker. Probably a small fracture. I've had a small crack at the base of my thumb before, the pain can linger but with some strapping you can definitely play through it.

.
Sorry... just had to.

Even if he could, I hope they don't risk him. He's way too important to us as a finals player than that.
Hah, that's almost as good as the Essendon mod named Jab :D.

But in all seriousness, I'd still want him rested for that game. The following week will be the most important game of the season for us so far, so he should give himself the best chance possible to get up for it.

Man we have no more defenders left :(

Isn't it ironic (or something ...), for the last couple of years our defence has been the key and we've been desperate to find that little extra something in attack that would make us unstoppable, now it looks like the front half is firing on all cylinders, and our very talented back half is falling in a heap. Grrrr.
