Because a 23 year old with as much potential and experience (already) as Steele would be locked away by any other club, He is a proven big game player and incredibly durable. Even if he was having a bad run of form you don't think to trade him straight away, if anything that allows us to offer him a lesser deal and keep him for a bargain.What is the outrage with trading a player?
If another team offers a great deal for Sidebottom would you turn it down?
We have traded many experienced Collingwood players over the past few years and it has worked out for us pretty well...
In reality if we could use him to secure someone like Jeremy Cameron, then seeya later Steele. But my comments more stemmed from the numerous voices this year suggesting he was no good except as trade bait after all of about 3 or 4 rounds.
