pick 5 actually will get you the 5th or 6th best mid, but yeh.

200cm KPP are most definitely harder to find than good mids. Good KPP go in top 10.

You really only think skin deep don't you? The first 2 picks are expected to be KPPs. The next 3 mids. pick 5 will be a top 3 mid.

Carlisle is in part leaving Bombers because he doesn't want to play forward. He is a KPD, not a KPF not a KPP. Who was the last KPD to go top 5? KPDs are much easier to come by.

Kade Koladjashnij - 2013 pick 5
Lachlan Plowman - 2012 pick 3
Matt Buntine - 2011 pick 5 (although not kpd)
Sam Day - 2010 pick 3 (has played back and forward )
Michael Hurley - 2008 pick 5

Id say a fair few defenders and key position players go top 5

If you're going to insult others for not thinking you should really do so yourself. Top 2 mids are both academy picks, their selection will push pick 5 back to 7.

So in the last 2 minutes of trading for 2015, Bombers have been offered pick 24 and next year's second round pick from StKilda....that's it. You are the Essendon list Manager, what do you do?

I let him walk to the PSD, and if Carlton, Brisbane or Gold Coast don't take him, I redraft him with our pick prior to St Kilda's. He then has the choice of playing footy for us, or sitting on the sidelines for 12 months. We win in this scenario either way. We either get his service again whilst showing that we are not prepared to take one up the clacker at the trade table because other teams think that the WADA issue means we are an easy target, or he doesn't play for us, but also doesn't play against us and we show that we are not prepared to take one up the clacker at the trade table because other teams think that the WADA issue means we are an easy target.

Just remember people, he can nominate what club he wants to go to all he wants, but if he goes to the PSD the only thing he can nominate is his contract, not where he goes. He could just as easily end up in Brisbane as at St Kilda.

Even Leigh Matthews, who is by no means an Essendon fan, believes that pick 5 is a fair trade.

Maybe you are thick.

Its easy to handpick a few defenders that were early picks and generalise.

Lake: Draft pick 71.
Frawley: Draft pick 12.
Rance: 18
Zac Dawson: 41
Hooker: 54
Taylor: 17
Mc Govern: 44
Scott thompson 37
Ted Richards 27

Silly trying to suggest that good key defenders are only early draft picks. Load of crap.

You could do that for every position.

Will be some nice ones going top 10 this year

I never would have thought using Zac Dawson would have ever be used to strengthen an argument. There you go, see something new everyday.

Cant wait for the day when a gun player asks to be traded to us with Essendon offering peanuts in return.
Looks like Leunberger will be your clubs opportunity to show how generous they are on the flip side.

Why are you so confident? If the negotiations got to that point, Essendon would re-draft him to prevent you from getting him. No way he would get past Carlton pick 1 anyway. You have no power if it gets to PSD yet you think you do. No, you don't have pick 1 this year

First of all he nominates contracts, if you want to pay him 700k a year for 4 years go ahead watch him play with a poor attitude, or even simply refuse to play

Secondly he can refuse medicals with teams, why would any of the top 4 picks pick up a player with known knee issues without a medical?

Finally if he's going to Carlton for sure pick 1 PSD as you said, why would you not take an offered 2nd round pick? Teams get screwed by trades almost every year, it's worth taking anything you can get rather than letting him go for free

Ross and Hickey would both be starting 18 players for you.

Ross would be your third best midfielder.
Hickey? Maybe. Ross? No.

3rd best midfielder? This has to be a piss take. Heppell, Watson, Stanton, Goddard, Z Merrett, Zaharakis all better. Myers and Hocking would be bloody close as well.
