I think his range come draft day is 10-20. Although I would still take him top 5, for the exact reason that was just mentioned - his VFL form. He looked at home with the bigger bodies, and didn't miss a beat. In those games, he pretty much erased any doubts I had over his fitness/recovery too.

I can't see why he'd still be dropped down on injury/form reasons when he's currently fit and in ripping form in a better comp than most of his peers. If he was rated right up there last year, his finish to this year has done him absolutely no harm at all.

Clubs get scared about picking those that are injury-affected, but surely they get scared by not picking those with clouds over them, too i.e Selwood or Heppell, who end up becoming very good players.

Judging by his Bendigo performances, he's clearly top 5 in talent, so he shouldn't slip outside the top 10.

We overlooked Mitchell for Watson, Laidler and McCarthy because he had a history of injuries. I doubt we'll go down that road with Menzel and Stringer.

ACL's and soft tissue injuries can be ongoing concerns for players or even in the family (Adam and Hamish Hartlett). A broken leg is a different thing altogether - just takes a while to get over such a bad break. Stringer is young and still developing and in a couple of years his break will be a passing footnote.

He'll be a ripper. Hope we take him at 11.

I'm not sure stringers result at the draft combine have improved his worth . Pre injury he was easily top 5 . Post injury he has done nothing that you wouldn't expect from a late second rounder.
10-30 is his range IMO.
I like the way your thinking RP, now if you can just jedi mind trick the hell outta the selectors at the draft and let him fall to the tigers, I'll be satisfied....

But so would Whitfield, Grundy, Toumpas. Spoilt for choice, are GWS. They'll be a scary prospect in 3 or 4 years if they can keep their list even 90% intact.

How about they go Whitfield Toumpas Stringer.

How do they fit all the new talent in their team already.. they're going to be an amazing team.. scary..

Stringer will go no.5 or 6 to the Bulldogs just you wait and see.
Sadly, I agree........No way will he drop outside the top 10. His form in the VFL elevated him substantially, if anything, the injury last year just made him mentally stronger...Christ knows we need that at the Tigers but it won't happen, unless of course the jedi mind trick works on the draft selectors:D

Happily, I also agree :D.

Have heard from several people who I know have very good sources we're extremely keen on him. Really hope it happens.

Not if he has nerve damage from it that effects him long-term. ;)

Bad injury is a bad injury.
I forgot about this VFL form, If we get the chance, I think we should.
You never fail to disappoint. :thumbsu: :hearts:

Carlton will certainly disappoint if he's still available and we fail to pick him, which is more to the point. I think you'll find that the joke is on you with your smarmy sarcasm. Remain ignorant for the rest of your life, it's no skin off my nose.

I'll be furious if we didn't take him with 11 too. He is a bit of a high risk/high reward type, but I think it's time to take that risk. We've played it too safe in the past and missed out on some gems.

The speed at TAC level is what appeared to see Stringer struggling , especially within the nationals .
His form in the VFL , did nothing to dispell my concerns re injury recovery , it's the speed he has struggled with not body strength .
I like the kid , just really concerned he is going to forever be hampered by the leg .
His nationals form was not that of a first rounder .
The temptation will be there no doubt and he could become the steal of the draft , but could also be a wasted top end pick .

Stringer will take time to recover from his leg injury, but he will be a star and i will be more then happy to see him go to the dogs with either picks 5 or 6, would be nice to see him get to 21 but to much of a chance he will get pick up by someone else before
