I like how Rose is likened to Stevie J, Gunston and Lecras, very similar players. Seeing no one's ever heard of him I'm happy to give him 18 months before hes on par with all three. Perhaps we're overreaching. Our head says vezpremi, lamb, towers, our hearts are saying Stevie J, Gunston and Lecras.

Veszpremi had all the talent he needed to be a great player, just not the work rate. A bit like Ed Barlow.

Ed Barlow did NOT have the ability, he was like a headless chicken running around on the football field. 'White Goodes', haha what?!

As I've said on more than 1 occasion who the F is Knightmare and this probably backs it up. The media pay so called expert journo's to come up with a list to justify their pay.

Just a poster on BF who does some of the better draft watching/analysis of draftees on the site.
Other posters who are good watches of draftees are Quigley, Chris and Skippos are also worth noting.

Right on cue. Personally I think most draft 'experts' are little more than card-counters at a casino trying to beat the odds (yes, I've read Moneyball...), with the exception of a few good ones like Emma Quayle.

Anyway Rose sounds ok, let's give him a chance and see how he comes on.

That's all they are, having a guess like the rest of us on BF.It is so easy these days to pick the top few as everyone is exposed to all, its not like the old days when you had to go and find a kid in the bush, say like a Dale Lewis. No draft , give him a run in the 2's on the G, ok , he's good lets keep him.

True. At the end of the day they are a decent guide for top 30. But back in the recruiters.

Hopefully Rose becomes far better than Membrey

You guys have got a gem here, played school footy with him 3 years ago when he played 1st 18 when he was in year 9. Had a real natural talent, held his own as a kid, and was doing things not many people can do. Great athlete with good footy smarts!

I'd come in here to comment on Rose and see I've already been mentioned. Thanks for the kind words Membling

You've got a keeper here in Rose. I mightn't have been as complimentary of him as I could have been in my profiles and rankings but this is the perfect club for him. I've followed Rose closely this year and have been privileged to see him do things that we wouldn't have seen in highlights.

He'll buy in to your culture - he's a kid from one of the top schools in Adelaide but not one of the pretentious all boys schools that get a bad wrap here. He's an educated and smart kid, got reasonable leadership and great application. He leaves everything on the field - he'll work for the team and his teammates will know that when they go into battle, Rose is coming with them. Never need to worry about him taking the soft option. As a bloke he'll develop into a good team man. He's perhaps a little young now - maybe more so than most draftees; I still feel he's a kid not a man but it shouldn't take long for him to adjust.

He's not Membrey. Not close. I'd take 10 James Roses before I took a Membrey. Rose is a brilliant pound for pound contested grab. He hits the ball hard, he leads so hard and steamrolls anything in his way. He's a good shot for goal and a smart forward. His leads are incredible really. He doesn't have a burst but he's capable of leading so hard for so long he burns off his opponent. He hits the red zone in a short term burst and just keeps going - a bit like Nick Riewoldt at times with regards to that extreme mental ability to run so hard to take one mark. Up the ground he's a composed and poised natural footballer. He's not an incredible athlete nor are his skills elite but his natural footballing ability allows him to be a capable option off a wing or in defence.

He's a keeper boys.

Cheers Skippos. Haven't seen much or heard much of him this year as been main dominated by the Vic teams and academy boys.

Natural footballer? Good, prefer them over athletes. Asides, what kind of comparison would you give him in terms of players?

I got an image of a young RO'K from all that for some reason. RO'K was never the quickest, but was hard at it and was a very good grab over his head earlier in his career.

Looking at some of that footage, he has many Jack Gunston traits.
Only with some courage.

I like him & look forward to watching him develop in our system.
He is also very happy to have been picked by the club.

Welcome to the Bloods Rosey!

Yay a medium forward. Just what we need.... our track record with these types suggest he will play one game in 3 seasons and be traded for pick 758.

God I hope im wrong but seriously where does he fit into our team? Also that set shot makes me very nervous. Davis has alot of work to put into this guy.

Give the kid a chance.

How about when we picked Parker?
We had an abundance of midfielders.

He's a bit of a battler hey?;)

Good players aren't let go easily!

I'll back our recruiters in with rose, ive never heard of him or seen him play but our draft history shows that around the 30 to 50 mark we tend to find good ones. Hope the trend continues.
