There's been a more balanced discussion in this thread than the entire Oz media combined. No hating on the bloke just people giving their own opinions and observations. Most of it informed too.

What people are hating on is the braindead sports media we have in this country. It's embarrassingly bad.

So bad in fact that the recent AFL/Newscorp deal didn't raise any eyebrows when they were open about the fact it would sway editorial content in the non-AFL states.

I think the overreaction had to do with the low expectations, no-one actually thought he was a shot to make a team in his first year. It looked like a multi year effort to even be a chance, just look at the 100s of other cross code flops there've been. He'll be a rare beast if he makes it.

WTF did i do to you? i think he is a somewhat good chance of making the team as a SPECIALIST too raw to make it as a skilled player, and i wont care if he scores a TD but if he does the only thing that will piss me off is all the rugby fans calling him the next big thing and handing him a MVP award. I have nothing against the guy, but the media and rugby fans who are blowing him for any reason they can think off is different.

there is a chance he will score a TD because he will be playing against the backups. Anyway ill only know how he does from people talking in the pre-season thread because its on the same time as the Packers game.

Look I don't think Hayne is the next big thing, he has a long way to go to be a complete package as a running back, but his ability in space is incredible and if someone had have predicted there would be an Australian playing running back in the NFL everyone would have thought they were mad. Anyway I'm just going to jump on the Hayne Train and enjoy the ride

I have no idea why some people on here are getting all offended by a sudden influx of "casuals" after Tigernova did what Tigernova usually does. This happens in most threads Tigernova posts in(with the possible exception of the GC board). I have no idea why you'd want to get rid of one of the most entertaining posters on the site, he's absolutely clueless and it's hilarious.

tigernova was a champ tho -- he sincerely apologized to me in PM. I didn't want him to NOT post here, or to STOP posting here, before or after his PM. Just to be cooler.

All the other casuals who've posted here in recent days/weeks no problem with whatsoever, not from me or anyone else who is a regular here. No one has. You might see a couple debates going on with them -- but the casual and the regular debating with them have BOTH been respectful and cool when arguing.
