I'm told that we are "moderately" interested in Howe.

This is of course of no news to anyone and pretty much what we've all gathered from media reports.

Kirby did you pass this information by the rumours police (PieBeast) before posting? ;)

This is a real difficult one because he hasn't played forward of the centre for a while and people are wondering does he have it to make it as a forward. He has been moderately successful playing at half back but doesn't offer much rebound that say, Lumumba gives to the Melbourne half back line. Does taking a strong pack mark translate to opening up our forward line and create opportunities for Elliot and Fasolo to kick goals? Is Howe capable of kicking goals himself, because if he can't do either, we can't move Howe to the back line like Melbourne has.

What many seem to missing is how Howe opens up the potential of swinging Elliot through the midfield.

Not for much longer.
Sending him to the midfield is ridiculous. Using him as a specialist small forward who can play tall seems more sensible. If anyone is any good down back or in attack they get stuck in the mid-field. Why? Elliott is nowhere near as effective paying midfield as forward.

I agree with others here.
Elliott looks lost in the midfield.
Get him playing front and centre as a crumbling forward.

Atleast Howe can take an overhead contested mark, unlike Jesse.

White as a 3rd tall come ruck relief will do well.

People are being a bit harsh on him due to expectation of someone his size and athletic make up is capable of.

He was never meant to come in and be a focal point of our forward thrusts which he has become due to lack of fwd talent at pieland.

He had a reasonable year and if you line it up with a role of 3rd fwd come ruck you would say a good year.

If you put it against a key pillar kPF post then yes he has had a bad year.

Moore and Cloke need to be option 1 and 2 with Whit option 3 with relief ruck duties.

Except that is not his natural game either, he will have to learn both roles if he doesn't want to go missing for stretches of the year like he currently does.
Very much Medhurst atm.

We'll have to disagree on this one. I believe he has the skills to work his way into the midfield over the next couple of years.

It's certainly one of Jamie's goals, so I wouldn't be betting against it.

Had a reasonable year?? Lost his place in the team to a skinny first year player (Moore) and couldn't win his place back. How would you describe him having an unreasonable year?

Probably lost us the game not having him play against Melbourne

How would you describe his year? Unreasonable? Unacceptable? What are your expectations of him? Sometimes it seems like people are expecting him to win us games off his own boot. Why is he under the pressure of someone on massive coin or an early draft pick?

The way I see it, he has had a reasonable year, and looking forward he would be good to have on the list as a fringe/back-up player behind Moore.

I think he does a lot more good things than terrible things which aren't as common as people make out. Obviously has flaws and is no superstar, that's why he is seen as a third tall target (according to Hine) who has been playing as the 2nd/3rd option and hardly disgracing himself. Offers decent ruck relief and I love seeing him using his strength on occasion when he's up the ground charging through tackles (albeit rarely). He crashes packs and brings the ball to ground for the crumbers when he is not in position to mark, more often than he gets credit for. He clunks more marks than Dawes did. If he hadn't shanked so many kicks he'd of had a quite a good year.

1.5 goals a game and ruck relief. Have a look through the list of players who average as many goals this season and there are plenty of 'reasonable' tall forwards behind him. Or have a look through the better teams and who was playing 2nd/3rd forward and how many of them were significantly outperforming White. People say he is not an AFL standard player. IMO he is a slight upgrade on Dawes who was literally playing 2nd forward in a premiership team. You can't have 22 stars.
