Hawthorns Alex Woodward gets the chocolates..
Great effort off the back of 2 knee reco's!

Some food for thought for those who say Scharenberg is finished/won't become something after one ACL...

Great effort by Woodward as well. Built like a brick shithouse. Much deserved off the back of 2 knee recos as well.

As mentioned it shows it ain't all over after serious injuries.

AFL listed players can't be selected in the team of the year.
Yeah, however it's pretty silly that an AFL listed player is ineligible for team of the year, but eligible to win best in the comp. Should just make it both or none IMO.

13 players in the team of the year between Port Melbourne and Williamstown seems a bit over the top (even allowing for the restriction on AFL listed players being selected). Surely they didn't dominate the competition that much.

Some midget who won't get drafted, no doubt.
No doubt whatsoever. In the last 10 years, 15 players have won the Morrish Medal (4 way tie in 2013, 2 way tie in 2010 and 2 way tie in 2008). Of the 15, 5 have played or currently play AFL. Those players being Matthew Bate, Matthew Kreuzer, Nick Graham, Jarryd Blair and Dyson Heppell. Heppell probably the only guy who has won it since 2000 to become more than a B-grader.

Add 3 from Coburg and that's about 75% of the team made up from 3 clubs.

The vast majority of winners have been stocky sub-180cm midfielders who are never heard of again outside of state league footy after U/18s.

I know that a lot of the elite Vic juniors miss TAC Cup fixtures due to representative and school footy, but I still don't get why so few winners of the competition's B&F award get a look in at the next level. Surely they must have some ability if they're winning the award against elite junior competition.

By picking up decent recycled players like Gibson, Gunston, Lake, Burgoyne, Hale, McEvoy.

Where we picked up Russell, Hudson, Young, White, Lynch.
Actually we picked up Adams, Broomhead, Kennedy and Scharenberg. (Grundy and Freeman were our initial picks I believe)

We traded for kids, where as the top sides traded for mature aged players, hardly any of those Hawks players were free agents (Lake maybe?).

Actually Kennedy was picked with the Pick we got without trading

Well the bloke picking those is still there and might ad to that woeful experienced recruiting list.

Ball and Jolly were good. Who picked Leigh Brown? Everyone else has been rubbish.

Neither has Scharenberg. What's your point?
I have faith Scharenberg will be a gun but you he wont be as good as he couldve been if he didnt tear it at all. Will be 5% - 10 % off he could've been without tearing one. That applies with all ACL injured players.
