on Abbott “I know his core beliefs, I know what they were, because we were close and politically active together … I think he has the potential to be a good prime minister.”.

May not surprise you to note he's a massive advocate of Santamaria and his teachings, much like our PM.

That him and Louise Pratt have quite different ideologies is evident in how some of the minor parties have preferenced them.

Bullock: 35/30 (Vol. Euth.), 54 (FF), 12 (ACP), 42 (RUA), 30 (Greens), 48 (DLP), 10 (ASP), 26 (Socialists)
Pratt: 19/13 (Vol. Euth.) - ahead of the Greens on the second ticket, 62 (FF), 47 (ACP) - last of the four Labor candidates, 77 (RUA), 15 (Greens), 77 (DLP), 9 (ASP), 23 (Socialists)

Indeed, and yet he will win a seat over her, due to the general apathy of WA voters and their desire to vote above the line.

Yet, he is powerful enough to cement himself as no.1 on the ticket.

The Shoppies, worst thing ever to happen to retail workers.

Joe De Bruyen is OK - surely he realises inserting idiots like this into Parliament is bad for the brand - Jacinta Collins is a lesbian seperatist next to Bullock!!

fair enough, I was more so talking about the Shoppies attempts at Collective Agreements not being good for workers and leading to a diminishment of their conditions.

The fact that they are Australia's biggest union and have never taken industrial action is a bit of an indictment on them really - the system encourages it now!!!!

Indeed, the FWA is a terrible act as it is too left leaning where as the 2nd last version of the WRA was too far right, is it really too hard to chart a middle ground.

As for the SDA, Too pally with business is what I always thought.

Maybe I'm just too used to dealing with the CFMEU.

The WRA had protected industrial action also

Indeed but the ROE provisions were much tougher, as well as the fact that it is exceptionally easier for unions to lie claim to be party to a negotiation, without having ever been in the room negotiating leads to a sad state of affairs.

Hmm so a guy who was in the Young Liberals, who espouses views well to the right of the average Australian (really only stopping just short of Cory Bernardi on the crazy right winger scale) and who thinks Abbott can be a very good PM is a PERFECT #1 candidate for the Labor Party.

Well done ALP! :thumbsu:

Edit: He also has a prior assault conviction to boot. What a top bloke :thumbsu::thumbsu:

Don't most union leaders have prior assault convictions? Or is it just the ones in WA??

A low-rent, right-wing prick who's spent twenty years doing * all for the (often vulnerable) workers the Shoppies are meant to be looking after.

Will be interesting to see how his looming time as a parliamentary nonentity shapes up against that of his wife, who he managed to wrangle a spot in the legislative council for.

Being able to put preference 77 next to his name gave me no small level of gratification.

Over here we have Malinauskas and Farrell carrying on with their own personal ego trips, it's good to know that SA is not the only place that gets f***ed by the shoppies.
What about me, Wills - Kelvin Thompson and Pascoe Vale - Christine Campbell. Although I don't think she is standing again. Both have very safe seats.

So this ******** - induces universal spread revulsion at the alp. - but still gets elected and deprived Louise of her spot - what a Karmichael Hunt

Yep, if the those that didn't realize what drags the ALP down to the depths of despair then this person & the reasons for him even being on the senate ticket let alone as it's number one is a bloody good example.

It's a shame more people won't vote below the line. Bullock doesn't care about the party, only himself and he knew he'd be a shoe in at number one, doesn't give a flying if any other Labor candidates made it
