News Jydon Neagle heads to ‘big time’

WODONGA Raiders young gun Jydon Neagle will start pre-season training with Essendon’s VFL team later this year after declaring his shoulder surgery a success.

Neagle, one of the Ovens and Murray’s brightest stars, plans to move to Melbourne in October and is looking forward to testing himself at a higher level.

“Everything went well with the operation,” Neagle said last night.

“I had a bit of ligament damage and they just tightened things up a bit.

“It’s good to have it done now so I can get in a full pre-season.”

Neagle will be in a sling for six weeks and hopes to be back in full contact training with Essendon by the end of the year.

He is pretty committed to honour his late great dad. If he is unsuccessful, it won't be because of his attitude, dedication or commitment.

Saw him play for Vic Country U19's v VAFA U19's a couple of weeks ago in Geelong. Got BOG medal, moved very well, especially in traffic, hit targets under pressure, Country won by 106 points. He should do well at VFL level.....

Hopefully it never gets thrown out in this whole "equalisation" era. Would be a horrible thing to lose, with the total commercialisation of this sport there are very few real good stories anymore. Everything is manufactured or cheap. There is something very real about a son following in his fathers foot steps, something that can link generations of fans together.

Will make it in the VFL no problem. Unsure if he has what it takes to do anything special at the next level but all you can
do is come down and have a crack.
