Re: Kony filmmaker 'naked, masturbating' in street

Pretty sure at least 90% of bf is male, and w***er is not generally a word used to describe females.

w***er was used as an ironic term for you to feel following the arrest. They was just a safer description in the situation that the assumption of you being male was incorrect. This also seemed appropriate as about 75-80% of the shares I observed on facebook were done by females. Not really meant as a direct slur on you. More that you may be feeling foolish regarding your support shown to the IC.

You wanted to call me a w***er but didn't want to be out of order by getting my gender incorrect...right.
To your original post then, no, I don't feel like a w***er. Jason Russell probably does though.

Then of course there is the "royal" they.

As for azreal, jump at the chance to be a collective, you get to do a lot of bargaining.:thumbsu:

I beg to differ. No one will ever out-do Bono's effort in paying for an extra airline first class seat so his Trilby could travel in style as he flew around the world lecturing the great unwashed how they should stop being so selfish.

He would make a great Pope.
oh oh oh I half differ and beg, in a kind 'o' AIG gfc boondoggle thingie.

The avuncular Ray Williams of HIH would get a first class seat for his laptop. And I am not even meaning the Relph Feines Qantas hostess with the mostess benefits...

Now this is public wanking.
"If Oprah, Steven Spielberg and Bono had a baby, I would be that baby."

nah, it is a whole tract of performance art on a global scale.

I'm sure a few are familiar with Jeffrey Sachs' books on poverty and development - "The End of Poverty" and "Common Wealth"? Bono wrote a foreword for TEOP, and it is the biggest load of wank I've ever read - even talks about how a kid came up for an autograph from him, and he sent the kid to Sachs, because "Sachs will change the world (or something)". Shame, because the books themselves raise some good issues.
u think that one who gets a cut price on his tax in Ireland being an arstist, would now wanna pay that back. I know it was Padys day, but the prvious week I met about 6 paddies trying to get somewhere else.

But Meds will solve Irelands troubles. Lower the company tax rate. whoops!

And he's an evangelical - I should have known. Clearly with a messiah complex if that quote's anything to go by. Anyway, props to Charlie Brooker and his people for torturing themselves with those videos for our entertainment.

OT: Tex, good to have you back even though you're pushing Sachs ;) I can reply to your PM now.

the Naomi Klein "Shock", not ECT one assumes

More the Boris Yeltsin "Shock". At face value, seemed a reasonable idea, but in reality you need a strong regulatory framework (particularly with regard to contract law etc) before you embark on massive privatisations such as occurred in the aftermath of the USSR collapse, or you have the oligarchs get everything at firesale prices, because they are insiders. Then further down the track you have the government steal things back. 2 wrongs may not make a right, but they do make a giant **** up.

u know all those oligarchs were/are jewish.

u wanna know why?

They gave them the assets at token prices, cos they knew, they could fall back on anti-semitism, and GET THE ASSETS back. Beggars belief.

I really need to find some good references on this. This, I would like to see ADL actually put out a paper on, this is far more pernicious

I remember reading about Sachs and how he would go to the local agri produce market, and see the fluidity of pricing and the turnover in eggs, as an indicator how the non-state pricing freedoms were taking hold. Since they are a perfect example of a perishable, and likely replenish for the next days harvest, unless you r stuck in bangcok and u have a case of bird flu

My main beef with Sachs's development economics is that he seems to be one of those people who focus on internal factors over external, which I'd argue are at least as important.

I see your point, but I think you underrate his focus on improving the freedom of trade, particularly in agricultural products that developing countries usually have an advantage in (and that the US and EU have ridiculous protections on, usually in the form of stupid subsidies). He also dismantles the "Trade not Aid" mantra (that chiefly comes from the right) pretty effectively IMO.

Kony campgain = western imperialist propaganda, simply ignore.

Thanks old guys from the Socialist Alternative yelling s**t at uni.

If only Guy Rundle's articles weren't so predictable.
