It's a late first as compared to the equivalent of two firsts, or a first, a second and a player. Obviously Adelaide would do it as there's zero chance of him going to the draft and getting to Geelong.

We are not old anymore. We have maybe 4 players over 30 this year with 3 of them certain to retire end of 2016.

So our list will be younger by that point.

Henderson informed the Blues before the end of the season he would be seeking a trade, but McKay says while he wants to head to Geelong, Carlton will be talking to other clubs.

Because any club would still take him for 1 year and then trade him on at the end of it. Geelong won't get him for free in either scenario so it makes no sense that they'd delay the transaction for a year.

True enough, but i doubt the afl in all their equality lip service would at the trade table let a lowly club accept s**t on a stick just because he wants to play for a specific club.
