That's why I was asking Mobbs.
Hi.

Admin of the comp here.

I have no issues with fake run stories like Mobbs and Fumbler.

But there will be no reserves comp.

You don't need me, you can do whatever you like, but I wouldn't mind being keep in the loop. I might suggest things.

But remember that it either needs to stand completely alone from the Sweet FA, or be subject to being bowled over by the Sweet FA at the first sign that there is any compatability.

Kennedy Parker :

The only other competition still running in Sweet is the Suburban FA. I haven't checked up on it's health recently, but a couple of seasons back the teams were :
- Razors,
- Titans,
- Darkness Eternal,
- Junkyard Dogs,
- Hurricanes,
- Eastside (2nds),
- West Gate and
- Old Timmians (nee Team Timmy)

akkaps mentioned earlier today that there was also a District FL. This competition did indeed exist, but was wound up after what we at the Sweet FA would call Season 19. Team Timmy, the Eastside Reserve team and the Trolls all transferred from this league to the Suburban FA. While both were operating, the Suburban comp was hosting most inner suburban clubs while the District comp handled the comparative outliers (not a precise demarcation).

Prior to this, a "City Competition" lasted until around (Sweet FA-equiv.) Season 15. Before that it was basically these three plus the Sweet FA right back to the inception of the big league. When the Sweet FA was first founded, a lot of social competitions dissolved within 12 months. An attempt was made to compile a "Central Association" to replace them, but nearly every team which got comfortable in it was immediatele snapped up by the Sweet FA, until it could simply no longer reconstitute itself.

Anyhoo, as far as I can determine, here are the competing clubs in each competition in each season. I think there are gaps, as once or twice a competition would operate with only 2 clubs! The 3-club Attenboro comp is confirmed, though - these were blase social get-togethers as much as sporting fixtures and it didn't take much to get an association off the ground back then.

There's 12 of them, so I need to split this into two posts. Note that the green background colour behind some team names can be ignored, it's my working data and I was using it to check off a list of teams once. Team names might slightly change without identifying in which season, but most times they are explained. Home ground is shown on some but not all occasions, and I would have to access another dataset to see which seasons this applies to in each case.

Each instance of an "x" shows a reference to that team playing in that league in that season. Where there were league moves, formations, foldings, and mergers, these are usually shown in the relevant place chronologically, although the text is sometimes truncated by the cell space available.

Awesome, actually contemplating the feasibility of a secondary competition ala FA Cup. Straight knockouts where lower league teams can compete with the top league. Sure there's not gonna be much activity due to bot teams, but the Qooty purists may have an interest and it builds up the lore.

Mobbs, my suggestion from earlier in this thread still stands. Creating an official reserves comp, using players not selected in the XX and recently delisted players.
I like it too. But when it was proposed once before, boncer34 said no. And we still mostly do what he says.
JWS started a kind of reserve thing once and was talking about trying it again, but stuff happened.
A second-tier comp where there was no pressure on players to post, like ... hardly at all, would be pretty cool. But it's still an additional administrative workload.

*ing boncer :hearts: Thought I'd ask 6 years later. :D

It would be very similar to the one JWS started. We could use fumbler's SPC teams as catchment areas + teams that wanted to create their own affiliate teams (eg: ESH reserves, The Jets FFC) + a few failed bids (eg: West Gate Trolls, OFG Warriors, mantis' team).
There would be one weekly Round thread for all the games, teams would be due (in match thread) Friday, and games posted Monday (like this used to be).
The teams would be full of inactives, so there would not be any pressure to post or keep posting numbers.
As for the workload, I'm not sure I'm the best person to compare and comment on it.

I wouldn't have been that succinct.

And I stand by it. There's not enough active posters to justify it.
