Norwood connection could help Port Adelaide land Brisbane Lions midfielder James Aish
PORT Adelaide chief executive Keith Thomas’ premiership links with the Aish family could see the Power emerge as a genuine suitor for young Brisbane midfielder James if he wants to come home next year.

Media reports and speculation have focused entirely on Adelaide being in the box seat to sign the 19-year-old if he does not renew his contract with the Lions this season.
But the Power — led by Thomas who played in an SANFL premiership at Norwood with Aish’s father Andrew and uncle Michael — could come up trumps as it did to sign Jared Polec in 2013

Is this why we didn't pursue Neil Balme to replace Rohde? ;)

Media will really try making this a pissing contest to get a few more headlines. While I agree with the move secure a player with the quality of Aish, I just really can't see us ever having the firepower to have a go in a meaningful way. No quotes and just 5 paragraphs on the fact our CEO and a players father might be enough of a tie to create a successful trade.

Pretty sure the Aish family have a pretty burning hatred for Port Adelaide.

That said I guess so did the Cornes family.

I actually know a few of the Aish lads, they love a good 119 reminder on the Facebook and all that sort of business... So, that burning hatred thing I reckon is pretty close to the mark.

Love to have him, but I can't see James Aish in a Port jumper if he was to leave Brisbane in this coming offseason

It read like Game of Thrones fan fiction, a long reach to tie a lot of unconnected co-incidences.
We aren't after Aish unless he comes as an absolute bargain.

Happy for us to be used to bump his price up though.

Port Adelaide’s Matthew Nicks marked as senior AFL coach in the making
PORT Adelaide assistant coach Matthew Nicks has been earmarked by the AFL as a future senior coach after being accepted into the competition’s new level four senior coach program.

Former Crows assistant Simon Goodwin, who will take over from Paul Roos at Melbourne, will also take part of the program.
Nicks, who has filled in for Hinkley during the past two practice matches, was one of nine highly-rated assistants chosen for the course, which sets out to prepare them for a senior role.

Wonder what happened in the 3rd quarter of the preliminary final that Walsh was talking about in his latest presser that Ken was not happy about ????

Whatever it was, it caused Roughead to be BOG and gave Hawthorn a 5.2 to 3.2 quarter blowing the game out from 10 points at half time to 23 points.

On top of that we had two ten minute patches without a single score.

******* Walsh cost us a premiership.

Come to think of it you might be spot on. The master tactician so we were told by geez. No wonder there was no fanfare (or maybe there was) etc from Port when Walsh went to the Crows lol.... on ya bike...

I have felt Walsh has been disrespectful to Hinkley since he took his bundles of cash to coach the crows. Wouldn't be surprised if he was working for them on preliminary final day.

Ken always speaks about anyone with utter respect where Walsh has basically listened to his own hype.

Trengove just posted this on Facebook! HAHAHAHA :D

Was just watching some vision of last years EF. This didn't matter at the end of the day and certainly doesn't matter now but at 0.55 Wingard takes a mark about 10 metres inside 50. He takes it back for the shot and a Richmond defender directing traffic goes 5 metres over the mark. Wingard passes to Polec who goals but it should have been a 50-metre penalty and a set shot on the goal line.
