Intrested in knowing how my old team mate Geoff McMurtrie goes? Had a great deal of potential when he was young, a hothead at times but a good bloke if you were on the right side of him!:thumbsu:

Let me know what you know!

I'd SAY Carsibrook would be a pretty fair side again, Wheelie.
Harcourt usually fields a fair side, but theres always plenty of comings and goings from BFL club Castlemaine.
Will big Steve Oliver and a couple of signings from the aforesaid C'maine club lift Newstead. We'll see, but you wood reckon Ollie would boot a fair few goals in a district league.
Rovers and Avoca cood also go OK. Keep an eye on the MCDFL ins and outs in the clearance business which started on Wednesday, Feb. 1st.

IN last year's 1st semi final Elliott kicked 5 goals and was named in M'borough Rovers best 3 as Rovers flogged Royal Park by 10 goals.
The next week he was slightly higher up, in the best 2, for Rovers again as they sneaked home by 2 points over Harcourt in the prelim.
He didn't get a mention in the grannie but Kane Bullen was in Rovers' best half dozen in the big one. Bullen had also snagged a mention in the best in the 1st week of the MCDFL finals, the qualifying.
Rovers got a belting from Carisbrook in the 05 grannie --- 13.16 to 4.6. The hard work Rovers had done in the preliminary to get over Harcourt took its toll as the Brookers finished all over Rovers.
Not sure if Jamie is saddling up again this year. Cood be he's called it quits.

GOT an idea Royal Park is playing one of the Heathcote District League sides in a praccy game in March.
Could be against either Huntly or Heathcote. Not sure.
Any other MCDFL clubs got inter-leag practice matches pencilled in ??

New Coaching Appointments - Avoca FNC

The Senior football Coaching positions for the 2006 season have been finalised.

Trevor Field and Nick Robinson have been appointed as Joint Senior Coach's.

Trevor Field has played nearly 400 games for the Avoca FC and has won numerous Best & Fairest awards at club and League level. Nick Robinson is the reigning MCDFL Best & Fairest player and is sure to benefit from the experience of a joint coaching role with some one of Trevor's experience.

The Reserves Football coaching position has been taken on by Steve Carey who has played aproximately 250 games for the Avoca FC and has won numerous goalkicking awards and is a premiership player for the club.

We look forward to Steve taking on this leadership role and his experience and no-nonsense attitude should see him prove to be a very good appointment to this position.

The Under 17 and Under 14 positions are still to be determined.

The Senior & Reserves netball coaching appointment has been filled by the expereinced campaigner in Wendy Robertson. Wendy did a fantastic job with the girls last year and has agreed to continue coaching in 2006.

Natasha Howell and Alana Field have been appointed as coach of the Under 17 and Under 14 netball teams and the girls are looking forward to the challenge of developing our junior girls into netball players of the future.

Football Training will be held on Tuesday and Friday evenings until the commencment of the night series in Maryborough on the 28th February.

Both Football & Netball teams have been entered in this competition.

Just wondered why the change though? Avoca made great strides forward in 2005 and wondering why the change in coaches for 2006? Trevor Field has been a great player but I am not so sure about his ability to coach considering he has been at Avoca all his career and may be a bit close to the players.

What do others think/ know?
