Squiggle tips Demons at 77% chance -- What's your tip? -- Team line-ups »
MATTHEW Leuenberger admits uncertainty over his future has played on his mind and says his best value to the Lions, or any other club, is as a ruckman.
Leuenberger was part of Brisbane’s bid to recruit Paddy Ryder last year and there has been no urgency in negotiations over a new deal for next year.
Coach Justin Leppitsch gave him a public clip after the loss to the Bulldogs and questioned whether he could continue with two ruckmen if Leuenberger could not have more of an impact as a forward.
Gerard Healy says he "can't believe" the Brisbane Lions would be contemplating trading ruckman Matthew Leuenberger.
Speculation is growing the former No.4 draft pick will leave the Lions at the end of the season due to Stefan Martin cementing himself as the club's No.1 big man.
But Healy said it would be a silly move to let him go.
"I cannot believe they're getting rid of a ruckman like Leuenberger," the Brownlow medallist said on Sports Today.
"They've waited five years for him to get through his injuries and now he's playing good footy.
"Stef Martin is (also) playing good footy, but look at the model of Hawthorn."
Healy went on to point at the successful ruck combinations of sides like the Hawks and West Coast.
"They've all got two ruckman," he said.

For what, 3 weeks?
THE Sydney Swans' trade restrictions continue to bite with the club keen to bolster its ruck division with Brisbane Lions free agent Matthew Leuenberger, but unable to field a competitive offer.
Leuenberger, 27, is set to become a restricted free agent at the end of this season and is understood to have attracted the interest of clubs headed by Essendon and Geelong.
Nonetheless, there had been growing speculation in industry circles that the Swans were keenly interested in Leuenberger and could make a play for the West Australian.
But AFL.com.au understands the Swans won't get to first base with Leuenberger given their inability to get close to rival offers that are expected to be at least $100,000 a season higher.
Free agent ruckman Matthew Leuenberger, a No. 4 draft pick, has interest from Geelong, Western Bulldogs and Essendon and isn’t staying at Brisbane.
Another uncontracted Lion is ruckman Matthew Leuenberger and Swann feels his situation is harder for the club to control.
"Matthew's a free agent so he's in a different category," Swann said.
"He's married to a local but he's probably got some pursuers so that one will take care of itself."
The West Australian ruckman failed to see out the year after suffering a knee injury in Round 18 against the Cats in a season that was characterised by deep ebbs and flows. Struggling for form at the start of the season, Leuenberger returned to the senior side in Round 6 after spending time in the NEAFL. He found form, however, in the absence of Stefan Martin in Round 14 with 51 hit-outs, nine tackles and two goals. An unrestricted free agent, Leuenberger is weighing up his options for the 2016 season.
ESSENDON has secured ruckman Matthew Leuenberger after the Brisbane Lions declined to match the Dons' offer on the unrestricted free agent.
Leuenberger, 27, nominated the Bombers as his club of preference on Monday, and has now got there on a three-year deal.
After the Lions were told they would receive an end-of-second-round compensation pick (provisionally No.39) for the big man, they flirted with matching the Bombers' offer to force a trade negotiation, but ultimately declined.
It was looking tikkety boo when he went there, terrible luck.wrong club to nominate Matty , All the ruck dutys for the season ahead getting smashed in the middle !! Nightmare stuff
I wouldn’t disagree with that assessment; we’ll said.Matthew Leuenberger announced retirement from AFL today. A player who never quite lived up to the hype and achieved what others thought he was capable of, he nonetheless comes across as a decent bloke. All the best for life after AFL.
