Good on you Dave. Love the way you convey good tidings. Also love the effortless use of the name 'Duckwood' which my brother has also adopted. Made me LOL. Fine player no doubt but those stats revealed recently on his free tally suggest a player permanently in coitus with the umps. Looking forward to seeing Maxy and Adams on the park in what will be another big game this week.

Rapt he has been cleared but let's be serious here this case being cleared just shows the pathetic inconsistency from the MRP.

How do they give Fyfe two weeks then Adams a week but clear Maxwell for basically the same bloody thing.

I would love to know what goes on in their meetings. Are they provided with cans of Carlton Draught while watching the games or some sort of drug?

If I was Taylor Adams or Fyfe I would be livid that I got done for something I shouldn't have been punished for.

Apparently the force wasn't sufficient enough to warrant a suspension.

Maxy is in great form so a huge result for us.

Great to see Maxy get off but If I was Taylor Adams I be dirty on the MRP

Adams had Less Force then Maxwell

I'm not sure how you're measuring that. No doubt the medical reports given to the MRP beg to differ. Cotchin was clearly more mobile after his knock than Selwood. Furthermore, Adams has a 'bad history' which counts agains him, and the MRP reports indicate that the intent of the actions and thier timing was a factor.

"Contact between Collingwood’s Nick Maxwell and Richmond’s Trent Cotchin from the first quarter of Friday’s game was assessed. Collingwood’s Scott Pendlebury has possession of the ball, Cotchin is within five metres of the contest and Maxwell makes high contact with Cotchin while in the act of bumping. After viewing all the available footage and receiving a medical report from the Richmond Football Club, it was the view of the panel that the force used by Maxwell was below that required to constitute a reportable offence. No further action was taken."

"Taylor Adams, Collingwood, has been charged with a level one engaging in rough conduct offence (125 demerit points, one-match sanction) for engaging in rough conduct against Joel Selwood, Geelong, during the fourth quarter of the round three match between Collingwood and Geelong, played at the MCG on Saturday April 5, 2014.
In summary, due to his previous poor record, his one-match sanction must remain at one-match, even with an early plea.
Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from the Geelong Football Club, the incident was assessed as negligent conduct (one point), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points). This is a total of four activation points, resulting in a classification of a level one offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction. He has a bad record of 68.75 demerit points carried over within the last 12 months, increasing the penalty to 193.75 points and a one-match sanction. An early plea reduces the sanction by 25 per cent to 145.31 points and a one-match sanction."

Well the Medical Reports do decide the Punishment but how could you say the Block that Adams made gave Duckwood a Mild Concussion?

The Doctors and Duckwood having a Sook in the Interview after the Game

If Selwood was 'confused' for up to 15 minutes after the knock he could count as having a Grade 1 concussion under the American Academy of Neurology guidelines. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concussion#Grading_systems.

Here is the AFL's guidelines on concussion. http://mm.afl.com.au/portals/0/afl_docs/development/coaching/afl_concussion_management_booklet.pdf

Lots of room there for Selwood to count as mildly concussed.

But there was no Hit to the Head by Adams

I'm seriously shocked at the number of posters that don't understand how the MRP operates.

Maxwell was never going to go for that. The contact was within 5 metres of the ball, Cotchin was not in possession of the ball (so bumping was Maxwell's only option) and the force was not sufficient to constitute a report which was obvious considering Cotchin bounced straight back to his feet.

The incident is in no way comparable to Adams' because Selwood stayed down and Cotchin didn't. TD your defense of Adams is admirable, but playing favourite's doesn't absolve him of his actions...
