Did a quick look at the clubs websites today and compiled a membership ladder.

Code:
Collingwood 69,759
Hawthorn 66,966
Richmond 66,244
Adelaide 60,383
Port Power 58,140
West Coast 56,729
Essendon 50,057
Fremantle 48,939* (as at 30/3)
Carlton 44,684
Sydney 40,126* (as at 21/3)
Geelong 39,409
North Melbourne 34,925
Melbourne 31,266
St. Kilda 30,148
Western Bulldogs 25,984
Brisbane Lions 22,523* (as at 24/3)
Gold Coast 12,417
GWS 9,495

Without comparing them to last year at a quick glance, I find Richmond, Adelaide & Port's impressive whilst Carlton & Geelong not what I expected.

Membership numbers mean nothing when your pet goldfish has a season pass.
Yep, last time I saw a club income chart Geelong was behind only Collingwood among Victorian clubs. We only had 41-odd thousand members and made $800,000 more than teams with 63K+.

Hasn't that got a lot to do with a very favourable stadium deal?
The stadium that holds 32,000? Doesn't help sell memberships.

You may be referring to our $800K profit per home game? It's a nice earner, but the stats I'm referencing are just net profit from membership sales.

2013 stats

For the record, Adelaide has about 44,000 11-game members. That might be a better indication than those given. Would be interested to see what other teams have.

All the geelol bandwagoners have jumped off, just pathetic by the scats 'faithful' but what would you expect of people who have to live in that shite hole!

I'll assume the use of 'Port Power' wasn't malicious and you were in fact referring solely to our AFL branch, however I'm fairly sure that membership tally includes Port Magpies numbers as well (no double counting it this year, though).

Its not about having 32k seats, its a lot of those 'have' to be reserve seats. That's where the cash comes from, but good on the cats.

Quick take:

Richmond very impressive

Port has a lolworthy amount of bandwagoners

Carlton is strangely low

I reckon Geelong would be constrained by their ground

Bulldogs are a massive concern, they're tipped to have a good year. How can you lag that far behind the perpetually woeful Melbourne?

Who is tipping the dogs to have a good year? They are in huge trouble in 2015.

Generally I think they're tipped to improve and have some exciting young talent.

But I'm now aware of the Dogs v Roos rivalry on BF, so ok, they'll have a s**t year.
They are 2nd fav for the spoon. Lost Griffen, Libba, cooney and Higgins. It's a year to play the kids.

I don't see 8 wins.

Ahh, that makes sense. Wasn't sure what you were talking about when you referred to 'profit'.

Gotta love adding my 3 membership's for the Dee's.

Me + German Shepherd x 2 (one GSD may/may not be buried in the ground).

Collingwood at 69 K ... LOL #Fitting
