Injury Miscellaneous discussion of injury prone players

Yep agree, but who plays every game these days? Only need 15 games from them. Plus finals. Am probs optimistic.
I'm a definite OWAATr for 3 of the 4 I mentioned

Menzel
Vardy
Stanley
Duncan,
in descending order of IFFYNESS
They ALL have to have fully recovered from significant injuries
Yep am expecting Duncan and Stanley to be ok. We brought Duncan back too early and for no good reason as far as I could see, but he has the summer to get right and they better get it right this time. Stanley has had a few injuries, but different things so hoping he overcomes that. But agree, may not happen.
Menzel -we don't know-he might do an Ottens and come in late in the year and be a finals specialist?
Vardy - agree, problematic indeed.
But we have had more than our fair share of bad luck with injuries, surely the tide has to turn?

Stanley always iffy, now more so.
Duncan wasn't, but, let's hope he keeps on your list.
Since becoming a regular Mitch has scarcely missed a game so having an injury this year doesn't put him on that list.

Stanley had played 37/44 games the two years prior so had shown he was beginning to be more durable so not nailed on as injury prone imo.

We shall see.
I like your logic.

and the quality of a large group of older players
Spot on and as I've said in the past a team of hard bodied hard edge fierce competitors' that required the likes of a selwood to break into,we are victims of not turning the list over every year during our prolonged success but how could we.

Good. *rubs hands together*
Now we've just got to find our Otto replacement. :D

any of those injury prone ruckmen oughta do the trick. From 2008-2010, Otto played 16, 6 and 10 games. Come on people, let's keep our eyes out for a big tall bloke with those numbers and we'll get 10lana to have a word in Stephen Wells' ear :D
Dawson Simpson :p

Guthrie was studying at La Trobe uni last year, spending a day a week there for studies and I believe he is still traveling to uni each work - so online study isn't their only option. I am aware this article is from last year, but on the radio earlier this year his dad was talking about Guthrie's pursuits outside of footy, including his continued studies

The science labs at La Trobe’s Bundoora Campus are a long way from Simonds Stadium, but if you hang around long enough, you’re a good chance to find Cameron Guthrie there, hard at work examining dead bodies as part of his anatomy studies on his day off from footy.

Maybe not an option for all players; but some do find the time to physically attend classes and campuses for study purposes.
From ice cream to cadavers

Guthrie said the uni is very accommodating about his footy + classes are caught up online. It's great that lectures are videoed now. Well done Guthrie.

They put lectures onto video now days? When I was at uni they would record our lectures onto cassette tape and we had to borrow & listen to them at the appropriate library - and I graduated less than 10yrs ago; so not sure where they kept getting the cassette tapes from.

My son, who's studying Engineering, goes to Uni twice a week. When I was at Uni, Engineers had 30+ hours of lectures, pracs and tutes each week.

I studied Bach Arts & Bach Psych, and don't think I ever had more than 4 days of classes a week - that I attended anyway. I decided that when they put an English lecture on at 9am Monday morning they don't serious expect anyone to attend, so that one was skipped, and by my last semester I had things worked out so that one week I would be at Uni Tuesdays & Thursdays (with a couple of hours for lunch), the second week I would add a 1/2hr tutorial for something on Wednesday - but essentially I had a 4 day weekend each week.

I thought Arts students only had 6 hours of classes a week all up? I guess with a Psych double major, that took it to 10? :p
