When Chris "Ayres" Scott took to his post-match press conference in round 22, after conceding ten straight goals to the Hawks, he knew it was clear that the mission he had embarked on at the beginning of the year would come to fruition.

A top four spot had been consolidated, and a first week matchup against the Hawks was likely, so the cards had certainly fallen into place. With confidence, the first words to come from his mouth were, "mission accomplished".

And what did this ambiguous exclamation mean, exactly? The media and Geelong supporters alike were baffled. With a wry smile and a glint in his eye, Scott would not divulge what he was talking about, but he knew it would happen.

His mission, as we now know, was to take this side to the first straight sets exit since 2007, thus driving the final nail in the coffin of the greatest side of the modern era. "Take that, Bomber Thompson", he thought. It wasn't easy, of course, with the likes of Joel Selwood and Tom Hawkins trying their hardest to win, but he was confident that he had adequately quelled the hunger and confidence of most other players, old and new, and he was confident that, when the heat was on, his team would crumble. Vindication for Christ Scott. His mission has been accomplished.

Why do you even follow the Cats?

Your skillset is far more suited to Melbourne.

I nominate that along with 'Poster of the year' this year we have a 'worst poster of the year' and they get a 12 month ban

Biggy_Boy gets my nomination

Wouldn't have gotten rid of Pods and Chapman, and wouldn't have made stupid statements in the media, for a start.
Pods and Chapman weren't in the last month so they aren't relevant to Winty's question.
Honestly, I had to check to see if you and I supported the same team as that's the kind of talk you'd expect from an opposition supporter.

Your younger brigade got two weeks worth of finals experience into them whilst the older blokes are still around to ease them into it - they'll be better for the run, despite the result.

Pods and Chapman weren't going to help us much this year. I'm not sure you can definitively say they should have been with us moving forward. There are far more worthwhile things to be annoyed at Scott about like:

- Despite Hawkins being injured most last year and no Podsiadly this year Walker has played sporadically if at all. Should have played every single game he was fit for this year and that's not because I rate him but because he's the only other KPF we had.

- The media performances as you have pointed out. Embarrassed himself and the club.

- Played sore players in finals. Would have preferred to see Bews/Hartman or another kid out there rather than SJ last week and a number of them tonight. If it means we get smashed to be it.

- Too gutless with Kelly and a number of the veterans. Too concerned with being in awe of them for past achievements to see how lazy, inconsistent and slow many of them have become. This covers his stupid plan to go through the season with such an old, big & slow defense.

- Wasting senior games on Smedts. Enough already. Not like Wells hasn't supplied him with far more worthwhile young options who have usually been better performing in the VFL anyway.

It was merely a jovial jab at a stupid comment the coach made, which contrasted radically with actual performances.
Biggy_Boy, you're an arse. You have nothing good to say about anyone. Surely you can't be like this in real life? How do people tolerate it? How do you tolerate yourself? Stop embarrassing our club.
