Who else could it be....

Where to start....

My favourite player of all time, greatest scorer i've ever seen just the complete package.

We all know the stories cut in high school (later proved false) hit the game winner in the NCAA championship game, then drafted at 3 after Sam Bowie.

Rookie of the year was followed by a broken foot, which he returned from in time for an epic performance against the Celtics.

Then came the multiple series against Detroit where he fell short

The shot on ehlo, good!!!!!!!!

Followed by the dream matchup against Magic, best remembered for the move

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmnQvraMdRM

The shrug

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dASHnEHnQ7Q

The 3 peat, featuring an epic showdown with Barkley, culminating in the three peat

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s0sIRwn672A

He then left to play baseball... or for a gambling suspension if you believe the conspiracy theories :p

Only for....

Which led to this.....

Ultimately the Bulls would come up short that year, only to return to the finals, knocking off the sonics, then meeting the Jazz in back to back finals.

MJ went alright those years.....

apart from when he came down with the flu

oh and he hit this shot

michael-jordan-last-shot-anniversary-1.jpg

then there was some crap with the wizards that we all forget about :p

He still managed time to hit 40 points at 40 years old

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4TkvX356cpQ

And to abuse the Cavs one last time

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0uvB8DtWaVU

Hit a few more game winners too

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pjo06p5zchg

And if you have some spare time.... 23 game winners :p

The Forget-Me-Nows
As I sat at my GM chair, I sulked. The basketball GOAT, MJ himself, had been drafted one pick before ours. The recruiting team was up in arms, too. We hoped we could re-create history by drafting MJ at pick 3, but it wasn't to be. There was always no doubt, however, that so-called 'consolation prizes' would be on offer, particularly after Spice Girls GM 'Wacky' T. Iger surprisingly drafted The Dream at pick 1. My assistant GM, G.O.B. Bluth, wanted me to take a risk and pick Allen Iverson. "He's gone at pick one before, why wouldn't you want to take him at pick 3? You know, cause a bit of discussion. Don't be a chicken, DiT!"

But no, I just had to go with the best PG of all time...

"With the 3rd pick in the NBA All-Time Mixin' It Up Draft, The Forget-Me-Nows select...

Magic Johnson, from Michigan State."

Easily the most talented, success-driven, revolutionary, versatile point guard of all time. Magic was a team player who made his teammates better, and was an unparalleled leader (shown by being the captain of the famous '92 Olympics Dream Team), however his flair with basketball in hand was unmatched. A star player in college for the Spartans, he not only succeeded in the NBA, but embraced it. Arguably the most exciting player ever on the fast break. The most versatile player ever, being able to play a post-up role, heck he even did an alright job at center! Truly an all-time great.

Welcome Magic, the cornerstone of the Forget-Me-Nows. Truly a legend of the game.

fidstar up I believe.

With MJ gone I thought I would jump off a bridge. How can the GOAT not be available at pick number 4?

Like most AFL drafters you should really go with the best available with your first round pick and then fill needs with your remaining picks.

So I've decided not to do that.

Well actually that's not true. He actually might be the 2nd best player of all time and probably will be by the time he retires. But the main reason I picked him was because he can play in a lot of positions leaving me 'options' in later rounds. Also the center position is deep, which is the only position he can't play.

LeBron James

I've picked him even though I hate him. But total respect <insert Ronburgundy.gif>

Been a bit busy, sorry for those itching to get a move on.

Wilt_Chamberlain_100-point.jpg
The single most dominant force in the history of the NBA, Wilt Chamberlain.

Averaged 30.1 PPG, as many as MJ.
Averaged 22.9 RPG, highest of all time.
Averaged 4.4 AST, one of the highest for any big man of all time.
Blocks weren't recorded, but it was believed he averaged 7-9 BPG.

And he's scored 100 points in a single game. I mean... just get around him.

Sometimes stats just don't lie.

For now he's my "led the league in one aspect" guy. May change later.

JP Sauce up.

Danger in Texas could you maybe put the draft order in the original post? That would be super.

Hmm, this is much tougher than I first thought because I'm surprised by some of the picks so far...

At the end of the day it comes down to the most important thing in basketball (even including swag): Winning.

Bill-Russell-3.jpg

So naturally my pick is Bill Russell.

5x MVP awards, 12x All-Star selections oh... and 11x NBA Championships.

While Wilt went out and got stats, Bill went out and got rings (and stats - averaging 15.1 ppg, 22.5 rpg and 4.3 apg).

Hahahaha, white guys!

One of the greatest defenders and rebounders of all time, a leader, a coach, a pioneer (first black superstar and first black coach), there's nothing this legend couldn't and can't do which is why at this stage I'm not defining him by one category.

So can everyone else just leave the draft room please? We need to make room for Bill's championships.

With the 7th pick in this NBA All-time Draft, Pat Beverly 'Junkyard Dog' select....

abdul-jabbar-608.jpg

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

" Comfortably the best college, high-school and NBA player in the span of a 20 year career"

Over a 20 year career he averaged....
24.6 Points Per Game
11.2 Rebounds
2.5 Blocks

Career Highlights Include...
6 X Champion
2 x Finals MVP
6 X MVP
19 x All Star
oh and casually All Time Leading Scorer (at 38,387)

I'll use the #1 draft selection for now.....
