Really impressed with Regine's voice, Sprawl II was spot on. I think the highlight was the first three songs, they were all fantastic live, especially Wake Up which is right up there as quite possibly my most favourite live moment ever. It was incredible.

I thought both Win and Regine sung unbelievably well. For people with pretty average singing voices, their pitching was perfect.

Agree with Wake Up. Crazy good.

Why can't Owen Pallett drop down and play a casual show at the Tote or something tonight? I would love to see him do his thing live.

She sings like an angel!

Sweet pics ManWithNoName. Was there last night also and thought it was amazing! Expect for Diplo, who did not seem to suit the main act. Good blend of song from all 4 albums, plus INXS cover. Great night. Hope we don't have to wait so long for them to come out again.

Haha the Tote.

I've seen Owen play 3 times in Melbourne. Toff In Town x 2 & Thornbury theatre. One of the better live shows I have ever seen.

So I loved it and all that (was pretty much a given), but forever will I regret/hate/pissed for not getting closer.

Didn't even come close to the Forum show in 2008.

Have been told this (the how good Forum was not a diss on last night part) by a rather obscene amount of people in the last 48 hours that makes me angry that they even played this at the Bowl.

Didn't play Porno, which has become my favourite Reflektor song, but wasn't expecting them too. Keep getting shocked whenever I hear something from Funeral because then I remember how ******* amazing that really was.

As for Diplo...* that, rather have some more of that Budweiser s**t.

This was the set list from when I saw them in 2008 at the Forum

Wake Up
Keep The Car Running
Black Mirror
Laika
Haiti
Submarine
Age of Consent (New Order)
Neon Bible
Ocean Of Noise
Tunnels
The Well
Antichrist TV Blues
(preacher video)
Power Out>>>Rebellion
------------------------------
Intervention
No Cars Go

Everything about this show was perfect. Being underage (was 17 at the time, no fake ID, I took a risk and not asking to be ID'd, I was ecstatic. Win coming out before the show started, and hung out with everyone in the front row, singing autographs. I've got a signed ticketstub around somewhere. The setlist was just about flawless. Wake Up is the perfecting opening song to start with (Start of the set or start of the encore) Normal People just felt flat to me last night. Did they forget it was somewhat a stadium show? A real lacklustre start. You got to start with a bang. It's almost as if they just wanted to get some old songs out of the way quickly and focus on the newer stuff. Fair enough, but to me it just seemed bizarre. Rebellion so early into the set made no sense either. The re-working version of My Body Is A Cage seemed to be a momentum killer as well (Don't get me wrong, I actually enjoyed it, as it's one of the only songs I had not heard from Neon Bible).

That was my first time at the SMMB as well, and maybe it was just me, but I thought the sound was awfully quiet. Just didn't seem loud enough. I couldn't hear the violins at all either. The mix on some songs was all over the place. Normally I don't like Festival Hall, and avoid any shows that happen there (Broke my 5 year drought and saw Morrissey there in 2012) but I would've preferred the show there. Have two shows there.

I reckon that setlist looks kind of average.

The good songs (No Cars Go, Keep The Car Running etc) are good but a lot of Neon Bible is kind of middling. Or they sound nice in the context of an album but don't really translate live. I reckon it'd be the same with Haiti.

Fairly happy with the additions of The Sprawl II, Ready To Start, Reflektor, Here Comes The Night etc.

These guys seemingly have no idea on how to structure a setlist. They actually have a good set of songs to make a really typical, but good, heavy-n-fast end to a set. They just don't do it.

I'm going to disagree with most and I thought the opening was great. I didn't expect Wake Up that early but the sequence of Normal People, Rebellion and Wake Up was huge and not what I expected. My issue was that they sort of killed all that momentum with My Body is a Cage and Ocean of Noise. I was up the very front though and did have Win stand right next to me so I can't complain too much.

The venue is tupidly set up, but as I had seats it worked to my advantage. we rocked up just in time for Diplo because there was no need to fight for a spot, and then we wandered down and got to be right at the front in front of the stage for nearly no effort. Meanwhile everybody else is stuck 50m away at best if they've gotten there early and held of the spot stealing dickheads. Stupid venue set up.

Also thought it was quiet, but we thought that was due to being too close to the stage for the main speakers. Also thought the mix was poor. Reflektor didn't sound great cause all we could really hear was the percussion, there was no oomph, particularly in the chorus. Also thought Afterlife and neighbourhood #4 didn't have a very good mix.

I agree that some of Neon Bible is pretty middling, but when performed live in a intimate setting (The Forum) it comes off perfectly. Strangely enough, Haiti was a highlight for me when I saw them in 2008.

From what I've gathered from reading various forums, people who have seen them before thought the setlist was structured poorly, while people who were seeing them for the first time thought it was a 'religious experience' and had no complaints about the setlist. All good though. I wonder how long it'll take them to tour again, if at all? With BDO slowly dying, there is no real festival big enough that could afford them. Crazy it took them 6 years to get back out here. Feel like we really missed out with a Suburbs tour.

Their Big Day Out setlist looked so good.

  1. Reflektor
  2. Neighborhood #3 (Power Out)
  3. Joan of Arc
  4. Rococo
  5. The Suburbs
  6. The Suburbs (Continued)
  7. Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels)
  8. Ready to Start
  9. It's Never Over (Oh Orpheus)
  10. My Body Is a Cage
    (stripped-down shortened version)
  11. Afterlife
  12. Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)
  13. No Cars Go
  14. Keep the Car Running
  15. Normal Person
  16. Here Comes the Night Time
  17. Rebellion (Lies)
  18. Wake Up
Afterlife onward would seriously bring the ruckus. Greatly paced setlist.

Meh Joan of Arc/Rococo - two wasted slots. But would have been a brilliant set - wonder if it'll be the same for Perth. Agree with 11 onwards. Wowza.

That's a 50 minute musical orgasm from 11 on. Sucks to miss them. I'm probably flying back home next month, so I miss them by a month and then just a couple of months before their euro dates. ******* luck has left me lately.
I went yesterday and they were awesome. But just as good up to song 11 as after. Stole 3 minutes off Pearl Jam too :)

Based on a jjj interview with Win, they have played a different set list for each BDO. I am content with this.
