Monash being Jewish was only part of Keith Murdoch's dislike, It was that Monash didn't fit the grand image that Murdoch was trying to sell of the Australian Fighting Forces. The biggest problem was that not only did Monash not fit the image he was also very effective.

I believe his Paternal Great-Grandmother was Jewish, however the rest of his ancestors are christian and some were christian ministers including his paternal grandfather

Whether people read it 'for news' (I presume you mean serious current affairs/politics stuff) is neither here nor there. They still vote. A lot of people read news.com.au in offices friends and I have worked in.

The point is during the last govt this would've been featured and repeated incessently, but it will not be under this govt. News Corp have been both actively pro-Liberal and actively anti-Labor. It seems this has insulated Abbott from learning how to actually manage the media, but he will have time to learn until the new Senate comes in. News Corp will try hard to build up a campaign like the "Howard haters" one that worked for J-Ho, but they may eventually change their tune if the polls keep showing Australia thinks Tone aint up for it. A change to Turnbull or someone else might be possible given everything else the Coalition said about Labor has turned out to be 95% spin, but no matter what it looks like the 2016 election will be tricky. Gonski backflip suggests they are going to go purely for a 'pathway to surplus' so they can contradict it with the GFC stimulus spending and say they're better economic managers. An argument most likely to work with people who aren't that interested in politics. ie. news.com.au readers.

Do you think the author goes a bit far in suggesting blaming those things was unwarranted, since this is only $880m out of $16.8billion? I guess the $9 billion pay-out to the RBA and other accounting tricks The Coalition used to make the budget look worse do end up making this court loss close to 20% of the deterioration.
