He is the best gloveman in the country, his keeping has been sensational for nearly 2 years now. Did you miss the Adelaide Test? Took a cracking catch off Lyon and his keeping was sharp. This is coming from someone who wanted him out of the side before the England Ashes series in the middle of last year.

Runs have been a little dry lately, but that will come. There are also not many keeps exactly banging the door down in Shield either.
wat wat wat
Ludeman, Hartley, Whiteman and Nevill are all far better keepers. And that's just out of guys who are playing shield cricket at the moment...

Haddin seems to be a player which needs to have pressure for his spot in the side, when he gets in a comfort zone like he currently is, he seems to struggle. Soon as talks of a dropping happen he will hit a good score.

He's over the hill, and he's lost it.

His Ashes last summer were amazing, but they were a false dawn, he hasn't got his mojo back, and, at his age, he never will.

Don't know if it's been mentioned, but he is the youngest Australian captain since Kim Hughes and only the fourth we've had captain the team age 25 or younger. Ian Craig and Billy Murdoch the two others.

Haddin had a pretty poor series with the gloves in the uae, his drops and missed stumpings seem to be forgotten pretty quick but wade's misses off lyon that one summer will likely still be getting discussed long after he retires.

I do think we need to move on from wade as keeper but that doesn't make haddin a quality keeper himself, he is better than wade but he still has some very ordinary series with the gloves and some very good ones but he isn't a consistent top notch test keeper.

He like wade needs(or should need) runs and plenty of them to warrant test selection.

I've always liked smith and really wanted him to get a bagful of wickets when he was bowling. Then we he got recalled as a batsmen, you had to really wonder about the state of oz cricket.

A great choice.... he is a breath of fresh air.

Good thing also that, given the media's endless obsession with Clarke, he should be able to ease into the role.

Hopefully he won't require a new baggy green to accommodate a bigger head like most recent captains
