Jesus the Essendon rucks had a birthday; surely McKernan will be picked on that performance if he's eligible for selection, regardless of the opposition.
You would suspect the EFC match committee would place some perspective on the performance of both McKernan & Giles, given they were rucking against the 195cm Sean Bolger & the first gamer, Alex Aurrichio. Bolger battled his heart out, but the reality is he should be playing as a tall forward, not the #1 ruckman & Aurrichio is so new to the game, it is a miracle he even debuted at VFL level at all this season.

Not really the thread for it so I won't harp on about it, but Giles would be nowhere near consideration on form up to this point and as for McKernan, it's more an issue of trying to fit all of him, Bellchambers, Carlisle and Daniher. There's a perception we'd be too tall.

Anyhow...

Was more that he won 25 possessions and 2 goals alongside beating a mediocre opponent. A lot of run in that performance.

I think the issue would be similar to us actually, in so much as it's not the number of talls, but the medium forward options that don't add as much to your midfield minutes.

Box Hill Hawks vs. Northern Blues
Sunday, May 31
Box Hill City Oval at 2pm

Northern Blues

B McGuinness Jaksch Fields
HB Wilkinson Foster Smith
C Dick Walsh Whiley
HF Bransgrove Dirago Ellard
F Johnson Watson Gowers

R Kreuzer Boekhorst Holman

Int Bolger Walton Wilson Aurrichio Ballard* Johnston Strachan Armitage Russell

Good to see Kreuzer back but this team is awfully thin on talent and experience across the board.
Will be an almighty effort to get over an established and powerful team, in Box Hill.

EDIT: Can't help scouring the team for Graham. Not easy to view a NB team without him.
Double EDIT: No DVR!!!!!!!!!!!

They're slightly crumby quality (with plenty of local Prestonite noise thrown in!), but the Essendon website has full replays of all four quarters of this game for anyone interested. I looked for the same thing on the Carlton website but I could find only a Northern Blues goals video.

Anyway:

Thanks Doss much appreciate the replay

Do Carlton win more game when Kreuzer is playing, because we always looked better when he was?
