Although in limited over cricket they should absolutely be considered if you don't have a keeper that slots into the top order. Australian wicket keepers, as a whole, average 21 when batting at 7, with 10 50's scored in 214 innings. Over in T20 it's an amazing 11. If you're just gonna shove the keeper to 7, as we do with haddin and wade, you should strongly consider whether just picking the best keeper is the better option

Personally I'm convinced that the best tactic in T20 is to pick the best keeper and the four best bowlers regardless of batting.

If your tail has to bat your buggered anyway and given how few balls the tail faces and how costly a horrible over is the better bowler comes out ahead.
