I have Sennheiser 201's which were about $33 at officeworks

They're great for the price you pay, but lack in bass or noise cancelling

I had 201s many years ago, you're right, not much bass or isolation. The 202s are a different beast altogether, the isolation is alot better (better and deeper cups) and there is considerably better bass response. Not "subby" or anything but deep and soulful.

How's the isolation on the 202s rabbitoh21

Compared to the 201s? I've decided on a whim I'm in the market for a pair of over the ears for my daily commute. Would like no noise to seep out though.
Level above any other non-iso cans I've used. Nice tight seal ensures that there's a trueness in the bass without discomfort. Would definitely recommend them over the 201s.

I'm looking at them new AIAIAI TMA-2s, pick your own parts. I keep adding up to the expensive configurations though :/

The only thing I tell people about anything bespoke is that corporations (e.g. Sennheiser, et al) spend heaps of time on research and development, refining and perfecting their products. I always worry about anything bespoke purely because you can never be sure if your configuration has been tested and how it will be compared to a non-bespoke product.
