Here we go again another year another season full of x player is being chased by x club, homesickness, psd threats and all that sort of jazz.

Jono O'Rourke: midfielder (VIC) his first year was crueld by injury but with Adams and Tyson leaving he has surely moved up the pecking order. Former #2 draft pick

Lachie Plowman: Defender (VIC) was in and out of the team during his first year but with Bruce moving on he will most likely play a more regular role in our team. Former #3 draft pick

Kristian Jaksch: KPF/KPD (VIC) lots of rumors of homesickness but didn't request a trade and his manager has denied the rumors, let's see if he impacts this year. Former #12 draft pick

James Stewart: Forward (VIC) former father/son candidate and seen as a project player. Will be given time to develop and have heard no rumblings about homesickness from him. Former #27 Draft pick

Stephen Gilham: Defender (OLD) potentially his last year

Josh Hunt: Defender (OLD) same boat as gilham and likely his last year

Dylan Addison: hard nut (NSW) given a lifeline by the club and his future depends on his output.

Isn't patton coming out of contract?

A few years of injury can leave a guy wanting a fresh start, Collingwood might go hard with quiet a bit of salary cap space and the promise of 22 games without competing against boyd/cameron for 10 years

Not until 2015... There seems to be a common misconception that Patton will be coming out of contract though.

Sad to hear that, still I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't a giant in 2015.

If he were to request a trade (and that would be understandable with his injuries and boyd/cameron) there would be lots of suitors putting up big offers. Is he on track for round 1?

At this stage - yes. As of three weeks ago he was unencumbered aside from contact work and they were building up his change of direction. It'll all really depend on how the pre-season progresses for him.

Who would you be willing to give up for him?

O'Brien + L.Keeffe + 1st round for Patton + 2nd round and steak knives imo

Keeffe is a very promising young key defender with excellent height, O'brien ex AA and still playing well and will still be playing next giants finals tilt. Based on giants recent history I think our 1st round pick (probably around 10) will still hold value for them, particularly in a strong draft.

In return we get an fabulous talent who could provide an amazing combo with cloke, however he has already had 2 knee recos for memory which drops his value as his future career is far from certain. 2nd round upgrade + steak knives(player) gets the deal over the line

Thanks for the offer but think we might hold on to patton and just grab Ben Reid as a restricted free agent ;)

Would need 800k minimum over 4-5 years to grab reid. If that happened we would have huge salary cap space and eddie would make sure we got revenge.

When's Jeremy Cameron coming out of contract ;)

Haven't you been corrected before on Patton not having two knee reco's?

Nope, was it only 1 reco?
Indeed, one ACL. The other procedure after being drafted was on the other knee to alleviate patellar tendinitis (jumper's knee)

As a background, during the trade period it was all "pick 4 + Easton Wood is a great deal for a guy who's had two knee recos/ACLs"

Fair enough, do you think Keeffe+O'Brien + pick 10(ish) is fair then? IMO its slightly in the giants favor as keeffe has proven he can play at AFL level and has improved very quickly coming from a non-afl background.

plus O'Brien who at his best is AA and has strong marketing potential in the WS region and pick 10 which really isn't that much worse than pick 4

I notice you didn't mention how Keefe is coming off a reco, but were a bit quick to falsely state that Patton is coming off two.

Isn't that what any good salesmen would do ;)

Also Keeffe has already successfully returned, whilst patton's successful return is still in the air and he has had other injury concerns
