Delisted Paddy McCartin

How's young Paddy McCartin tracking? Would love to see the young fella get a debut soon.

Ticking along nicely Biscuit. Had 7 shots on goal and kicked 4 in a VFL practice match on the weekend. Still has plenty to work on though and won't be rushed in unless we need him (is on stand by for Reiwoldt tonight).

Most of us would like to see him play a couple of games in the VFL season proper first but I think we will see him soon.

Another 4 goals, which could of been 6 or 7 if not for inaccuracy. Gave off a couple also. With Brucey doing so well for us, it is great for Paddy to hone his craft in the VFL IMO. Dissapointing for Paddy maybe, but it is good that these youngsters are made to work hard for games, rather than being gifted them. For a big key forward, I think Paddy is doing real well
.

Named as an emergency for our round 3 clash. Great signs. You'd think a debut is going to happen sooner rather than later.

This weekend: Sandringham v Werribee - Saturday May 30, 2pm, Trevor Barker Beach Oval

Prized youngster Paddy McCartin suffered concussion in Sandringham's 40-point win over Werribee, taking no part in the game after half time.

McCartin dived for the ball and was collected high, winning a free kick but leaving the ground for treatment while his team went on for a big win against the VFL's top side.

Apparently no symptoms of concussion at all.

Paddy boots four in thrilling win

Strong contested marks from key forward Paddy McCartin (14 disposals, 8 marks, 4 goals) gave St Kilda supporters glimpses of the future, while midfield leaders Clinton Jones (38 disposals, 18 tackles, 1 goal) and skipper Adam Cockie (24 disposals, 11 tackles, 1 goal) typified the fighting Zebra spirit heading into the second half.
"Clinton Jones and Adam Cockie were outstanding as our midfield leaders and Paddy McCartin was the standout key forward, along with Mitch Brown and Tom Lee who held the back half up pretty well.

St Kilda's key forward depth forces young gun Paddy McCartin to wait in queue

What was once perceived as a hole on St Kilda's list is quickly evolving into an area of depth that means the club's No.1 draft pick Paddy McCartin will wait for his chance despite his encouraging form in the VFL.

The young key forward kicked four goals against Footscray at the lower level last week to back-up bags of three in two of his previous three games – performances that signalled to coach Alan Richardson that the 19-year-old was "certainly putting his hand up" for a recall ahead of Sunday's game against Essendon.

However, Richardson also pointed out the dilemma the club now faced with Nick Riewoldt and Josh Bruce morphing into a dynamic and consistent tall forward duo, supported by Tim Membrey who played his "best game for the club" against the Western Bulldogs on Saturday night.

"Paddy hasn't got a wonderful physique like me!"

Dermott is an arrogant w***er, so who really gives a s**t what he thinks, especially in comparison to our professional recruiters who have nailed draft pick after draft pick?

But I'll bite. His comments about Paddy reek of someone who is trying to get media attention and really doesn't watch AFL football. Not surprising given his (frankly disrespectful) comments about Pelchen and the Saints, but still, some awful calls made about a guy who just played his 4th game.

For what it's worth, as a 17 year old Paddy recorded a 20m sprint time which would rate in the top third of draftees, he did 20m in under 3 seconds which is considered elite for a key forward. His agility test would've had him in the top 15% at the Combine.
