Here is a tutorial on how to make a footy jumper using my Paint.NET templates.

Make sure you have Paint.Net. Download it here.
Make sure you have my template pack, V3 is the latest one. Download them here:

So we will be making the Melbourne home jumper using the New Balance template.

Next, on the colours layer, fill the template with your base colour. Make sure you have the tolerance set to 0.

Next fill in the manufacturer logos and lines, as well as the socks.

Now, add in a new layer on top of the colours layer. Open the wide v template which you can get from the universal template thread, and using the magic wand, with the tolerance at 0, select the black, copy, then on your new layer paste. Move it around until your happy, and fix up the edges (you will figure out some god techniques as you play around with the program). Turns out the wide v fits perfectly.

Next on the colours layer, select using the magic wand tool the entire AFL logo (use shift to select colours that are the same and ctrl to select more than one thing), and then on your new layer hit delete. Then merge your new layer down and fill in the colours.

Add in a new layer and open the numbers template (also from the universal thread), copy and paste your wanted numbers onto the new layer, move it around until you are happy ( the blank box is a guide as to where to paste the numbers), and then fill in the colours and merge the layer down, then fill in the blank box.

Now, for each sponsor add in a new layer, get the positioning right, and then merge down until they are all part of the colours layer.

You are now done. Just merge the colours layer down into the background layer, copy into word, make it larger, then resize it down to a smaller size ( I use 7.5cm), copy and paste into a new picture in Paint.NET and save as a PNG.

Here is the final result.

Yeah heres a screenshot.

Ok. Start again and use a new layer to paste in the v. The merge button should be next to the new layer button.

Sorry 4321 .

I made this tutorial in 2011, didn't post it until 2013, and I haven't used the paint.NET since January 2012.

It's fair to say I've forgotten a lot of this, and I've tried to find the problem you have, but it never occurred when I followed the tutorial.
