They were the best 2 or 3 weeks in our history. The economy didn't come to a grinding halt and no ******* was protruding into our daily lives.

Silly cartoon. It is in fact the author that has tunnel vision - assuming that Lebanese / Iraqi / Kenyan etc. media and media outlets in those regions, where those attacks would have been covered, is not part of 'world media' and that only Australian or UK media is...
I think someone termed, over the weekend, the people that cringe at coverage of the Paris attacks as 'tragedy hipsters' - ie. the tragedy I know about is more obscure than yours. How completely apt.
