Training Pre-season 2015

One of the most bizarre contracts I can recall.

Three year deal during the first year for a guy that hardly looked an AFL player.

Agreed. I don't get the Kommer love on here, looks a relatively average player at best to me.....

Hate to nit pick but it was a 2 year deal.

It was the chance to shine for a number of young Bombers on Monday morning when the players took part in a match practice session to begin the week of training.

Every session becomes important for the playing group to impress with just 47 days until the first pre-season NAB Challenge match against St Kilda at Morwell.

Joe Daniher continued to show his development curve is heading in the right direction with another solid hit out impressing against a number of opponents.

The young key position forward has shone throughout the pre-season with his contested marking ability and improved goal kicking action.

Daniher has been working closely with specialist coach Matthew Lloyd over the last six weeks in an aim to improve his accuracy in front of goal.

Joe Daniher grapples with Tom Bellchambers during Monday morning's training session.

In search of a breakthrough season midfielder Elliott Kavanagh continues to impress those watching him in action with both his athleticism and ball use.

Kavanagh has been among the top performers in fitness testing and is now displaying his ability in a game situation on the track.

National Draft recruits Jayden Laverde and Kyle Langford are matching it with the bigger bodies in their attempt to score a place in the Round 1 team.

Irishman Conor McKenna is beginning to look at home among his teammates and has shown significant improvement with ball in hand.

Adam Cooney, James Gwilt and Jonathan Giles all look to have settled into their new colours comfortable with all three players getting involved during the session.

Dustin Fletcher is looking as strong as ever as he enters his 23nd season in the red and black.

Veteran pair Dustin Fletcher and Jason Winderlich demonstrated why they are still playing the game among the stand out performers in warm conditions.

The modified training program for Jake Carlisle (knee) and Heath Hocking (groin) continues to increase with the pair joining in during some ball work on Monday morning.

Had no idea the game was being played in Morwell. Hope we field a very under strength side, s**t ground could be injuries.

Shocking ground.
I think we have played out there in the past few years or maybe it was the tigers and reports were mostly positive of the experience so hopefully they get it up to scratch.
Tbh though any ground out that way is going to be as hard as rock. I got knocked out back when I played out there on one of the grounds in a pre season match. Like playing on concrete.

Hey Guys,

Pardon the intrusion, I was just wondering how Jake Carlisle is tracking this pre-season? From my understanding he's had some issues with his knee. Where do you see him playing this season, in the forward line or the back line?

Will play forward. I saw him at training a few weeks back. He doesn't have 'new' issues with his knee, they are just managing a pre-existing condition.

Looks pretty sharp.

According to training reports has yet to join full training. Is struggling to make the modified group.

Huh? Struggling to make the modified group? Says who?

Agreed. He's a full blown hack but he has a rougish charm about him that people love.

Some may not remember due to copious amounts of drinking but in the year he debuted there were many games we weren't running out/putting 100% into. Every game Kommer was chasing, tackling, getting involved regardless of his talent and that's what people like about him.

Also, those dreads.

Steinberg certainly seems to be the house trainer of the preseason. Will be an interesting battle for the third tall defender role.
Very settled backline to break into.. surely would be only fighting it out with Gwilt to fill in Flethcher's spot when he's out.

Interesting though that there has been talk about Gwilt and Steinberg as forward options also.

I remember it. He's a worker. Good hard worker. Just a very average player IMO all in all.
