Movie Prometheus

Just something I recall reading which made sense and opens up intriguing possibilities; Something went wrong on LV223 (The planet name itself may have biblical references) 2000 years ago.

Just reading through the thread again. LV 223. Leviticus 22:3. According to the Christian mythology

http://biblehub.com/leviticus/22-3.htm

"Say to them: 'For the generations to come, if any of your descendants is ceremonially unclean and yet comes near the sacred offerings that the Israelites consecrate to the LORD, that person must be cut off from my presence. I am the LORD.

LV 426. Leviticus 4:26

http://biblehub.com/leviticus/4-26.htm

He shall burn all the fat on the altar as he burned the fat of the fellowship offering. In this way the priest will make atonement for the leader's sin, and he will be forgiven.

The Engineer(s?) who crashed on LV 426 - were they trying to atone for something? The Greek Prometheus myth says that Prometheus stole fire from the gods and gave it to mankind. These bioweapons on LV 223 were meant to erase the mistake of life on earth after that rogue Engineer (as I saw it, anyway) stole a flask of black goo to 'give' to an uninhabited planet.

Interesting stuff.

Another 2 or 3 films Prometheus films before it gets properly tied to Alien. That's, what, another 10 years? Guy will be dead by then.

Hey man, it's about the road taken, not the destination. We might get to see some strange and interesting s**t along the way:thumbsu:

That's true enough, but in that case why shoe-horn the xeno into the end of Prometheus? I dunno, it just reeks of something I was banging on about ages ago in this thread - that they had their original idea (a bloody good one) about exploring the origins of the derelict ship from Alien and the xenos themselves, but then the studio jumps in with dollar signs in their eyes and say hey why have one movie when you can have 3 (or 4 it now seems lol)?

In part, I think Prometheus is the mess it is because of that approach, but it doesn't sound like anyone learned their lessons and doesn't give me much confidence in the sequel(s).

Did you ever get to watch the Giftbearer fanedit? If anything, it proves that good editing can make a storyline even better. They filmed all these great sequences, but they f*cked up on the editing for the theatrical release. I tried watching the theatrical release again a few weeks ago and chucked it - it's a bit of an abortion, to be honest.
