Actually, wouldn't mind seeing the thumb in person if I ever hit up Melbourne pants

I guess I could fly to Melbourne.

Dagless did you take some sort of travel card for money?

* travel cards, man.

Look up the GE Money 28 Degrees credit card.

Look through this website, http://www.finder.com.au/travel-money, because apparently the best bet is to take two cards - one for withdrawing money from (I think there is a card out there with no international ATM fees - 28Degrees used to have that, but apparently it now doesn't), and another card for international transactions (Which you would use the 28Degrees card for. There's no fees on that)

Too late for me to apply for the 28 degrees card - I've only got 4 working days until I go.

I'm with Westpac so I just looked up their card - zero fees to withdraw cash from one of their worldwide partners ATM's (pretty big banks like Barclays etc) and zero fees on purchases. Seems like that is my best best.

Travel cards and an emergency credit card which I kept in the hostel.

Europe is awesome in that there aren't normally addition fees for international cards.
