Rottnest unveil Minson

Rottnest can today confirm they have been succesful in bidding for uncontracted Ruckman Will Minson and he will join the side in the pre-season draft with the clubs 2nd round PSD selection on a 3 year deal.

Club coach peterss had this to say at today's announcement.

"We are absolutely delighted to gain the services of the quality that is Will Minson on a 3 year contract, we dont bid often on players and prefer to trade for them but the oppurtunity to gain him without having too trade for him."

"Will is a quality ruckman and alongside Nic Naitanui we feel we now have the best ruck combination in the competition"

Rottnest start their trade period with a mega trade.
Rottnest Razorbacks today got their trading period underway in a massive way with the biggest trade of the period so far.
The trade saw the Razorbacks give up some quality big name senior players in exchange for players that are about to hit their prime and also added good depth in the process.
The trade saw veterans Adam Goodes and Leigh Montagna aswell as reserve ruckman Jon Griffin and impressive youngster Dion Prestia and the equally impressive talent of fellow half back flanker Bachar Houli traded to Pie 4 Life's Brisbane Bears, In exchange Rottnest welcomed veteran midfielder Andrew Carazzo, forward flanker Leigh Adams, impressive young defender Michael Hibberd, the silky smooth Dale Thomas, key forward Jay Schulz and Pick #6 in the national draft.
Rottnest Coach peterss was made available at tonight's pre season function to discuss the trade.
"Its great to finally be amongst the trade action, we sat back at first and let trades unfold elsewhere around the league so we could get a good look at what it was we were actually after and Pie 4 Life had some players that interested us so we decided to touch base with him to test the waters so to speak."
"It was originally a smaller trade but as talks progressed more players were thrown into the ring and as a result this mega trade took place. We feel as though its certainly a fair trade for both parties involved and it benefits them as much as it benefits us which is always a good thing as we always want to trade fairly and have a good relationship with other clubs around this time and thats what we feel we have"
"Obviously losing Goodes and Monty was a bitter pill to swallow but to gain the quality of Daisy Thomas and Jay Schulz we felt was good compensation as both are younger and have a big role to play at Rottnest and fit into our style of play well"
"Dion had a great year for us last season as did Bachar but to replace them with the likes of Hibberd and Leigh Adams was also a positive for us.
"Jon Griffin whilst he didnt get much game time for us due to the likes of Nic Nat and Goodsey when he played he certainly performed well, but with the club getting Will Minson in the pre-season draft there was no longer a need for him so we thought we not try work him into this deal which Brisbane were happy to do."
"Carazzo whilst he has been injury prone of late we feel that his injuries are now behind him and with our medicos giving him the all clear we think hes going to get back to his best and provide us with something in the middle that will benefit us"
"Pick 6 is also a great pick up as it now gives us two first round picks which will provide us with the opportunity to replenish our list with some quality youngsters that we will develop and see grow into quality young players on and off the field."
"We would like to thank Pie 4 Life for being the ultimate professional on the trading front and getting a good and fair result for both parties. We would also like to thank Adam, Monty, Dion, Bachar and Jon for their services to Rottnest and we officially welcome Dale, Andrew, Leigh, Jay, Micheal and our 6th pick to the club and look forward to working with them to drive this club forward into the future"

Rottnest complete another trade.

Rottnest's busy day at the trade table continued after a trade with Geelong was struck late in the day.

The trade see's the out of contract Jarrod Harbrow depart along with pick 51 whilst forward flanker Luke Dahlhaus and Pick 37 head to Rottnest.

peterss had this to say about the trade.

"We were obviously trying to keep Jarrod via the bidding process but Geelong approached us stating their interest and we knew we would have a fight on our hands to keep him if we continued to bid for him."

"We rated him highly as a player but at the end of the day these things happen in football but we feel as though we got a just a good replacement in young Luke who continues to rise up the ranks"

"We also managed a pick upgrade to put our already strong draft position in an even better position which we are delighted with"

"We wish Jarrod well and welcome Luke to the club and we thank GeeCat for working with us on this trade"
