Mitchell's NAB form hardly makes him automatic does it ? Mitchell is a one pace plodder who gets inside and accumulates which during the NAB he didn't do. He disposes well by hand and by foot helicopters is an apt description. At this stage I don't believe he is going to be the messiah some do.
Where as Heeney & Mills next year are going to be a dynamic duo that are going to rip it up for years to come. Unless Mitchell gets a wriggle on by seasons end he will be tradeable and will fetch good value at market. Hope I am wrong about him but he is no walk up start that is for sure.
Expecting them to only miss the year. Does that mean Ryder would also miss the year?
There will be a riot if Mitchell misses out.
The first step will be a directions hearing for lawyers to determine when a sanctions hearing will take place. Lawyers will also begin applications to have any suspensions backdated from what would be a maximum two-year ban. ASADA and the AFL will also put forward what they feel should be appropriate sanctions. These hearings could be done over a couple of days but could drag out if there are technical arguments. This would mean the players remain provisionally suspended and almost certainly will miss at least round one – unless the AFL agrees to lift the suspension. They also have 21 days to appeal to the AFL appeals tribunal and the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
If they are guilty, they won't be playing Saturday anyway
They can still play Saturday if found guilty today.
They'd better get ******* suspended otherwise I need to rewrite two thirds of my preview
Wrong.
They are automatically stood down if guilty.
Incorrect, to a point.
They will still be provisionally suspended if found guilty until after the hearing to decide their penalties which most likely won't happen until next week. They can still play Saturday if they request to the AFL to have the provisional suspensions lifted until such time that penalties are handed down plus appeals lodged and decided. But that would effect backdating and thus the AFL would likely reject any such request.
Yeah well the AFL aint going to allow them to play, watch ASADA/WADA come in and belt them like nothing before if that happens. They can request it, you are right, it won't be given. The provisional suspensions basically become suspensions. Not to mention if they play they will forgo any 'time served'.
i hear if Essendon are guilty they may increase our trade ban
Expecting either a not guilty for players and guilty for club or an Essendon ban that has as much heft as a wet leaf of lettuce.
